2011 Steam Summer Sale

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine was banned on the official forums because he gave evidence that Valve intentionally increased some games' prices before this sale started.

Well done, Valve. Well done. (N)

Valve doesn't set prices for the games on their client, publishers do.

Maybe I'll pick up Darksiders if it gets a daily deal.

Arkham Asylum looks good too, but that DRM is irking me. It'll have to drop pretty low for me to buy it.

Like to pick up a racing game too. Maybe Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, but it's not even on sale by itself yet.

Also looking at picking up a sim too. The Sims, Tycoon City, or Spore.

Also : Probably should put this in the OP, even though it isn't technically related still worth checking out.

Amazon's 4th of July Blowout

I want to get the id Super Pack, but I've already bought all these games. I would be buying it just for the convenience of having them all in Steam. Maybe if it had the newer wolfenstein and Quake 4 (wtf? why doesn't it have Quake 4?) Because it is Raven? But it has Hexan....but no Heretic. Blah, maybe if it was $15..but $30? I'll pass..

It isn't that Super of a Pack.

ID Software developed Hexen, with Raven. Raven owns the rights to Quake 4, and it didn't have anything to do with ID Software,... therefore, they don't have publishing rights.

ditto for the new Wolfenstein, it's an Activision game. i'd buy that for a dollar, though!

looks like some of the games from the Xmas sale are here again...KOTOR and Just Cause 2 to name a few. hopefully some newer stuff will be on offer, i'd like to buy quite a few games to support the sale.

Yeah, all the games i want on there, i got it in past sales and the ones i kind of want are still pricey to take the risk.

I picked up the GTA Classics pack yesterday just for the sake of getting something in the sale and to have the games on my Steam list... plus i'd like to play through Vice City again.

I picked up a couple games on the first day, and Terraria and Dwarfs! today. I'm actually disappointed in Terraria but for a stupid reason - there's no server browser or easy way to join MP games without knowing the IP. Which is fine, but I'd really like it if the game had an easy way to browse servers. :p

I'm seriously considering buying BioShock, B:BC 2, and B:BC 2 Vietnam. I wanted these in the Christmas sale, but decided not to buy anything in that sale.

BioShock (both 1 and 2) are definitely worth getting. Probably the best games I got in the Christmas sale, made me wonder why I'd waited until then to play them. Bad Company 2 is a lot of fun too, the multiplayer part is still really active. Haven't got the Vietnam expansion, so can't comment on that. :)

I just bought it. I'm looking forward to playing it, although I need to complete BioShock first!

A heads up to anyone who is interested in buying the Bad Company 2 Pack. Instead of buying the pack, you can buy Bad Company 2 and redeem the CD key on EA's Origin to get the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes Vietnam. So, unless you want the Steam version, you get Vietnam for free. chicken-royal, you can do this to get Vietnam.

Damn, that's pretty nice. I paid $49.99 for Bad Company 2 last year. It's definitely worth it for $5. (Y)

    • You're absolutely right! No reason in hell these should be on the road!
    • They aren't going to want to. Most would just go with the 17 Pro and save money. Why would they want to spend $300 for basically the same thing? It's not worth it if there are hardly any changes from year to year.
    • 24H2 rolled out to the Release Preview Channel in early June 2024, so this coming a bit later in the Experimental Channel (formerly Dev) doesn't really say much more than earlier H2 releases that came out in October. I am not sure what the thinking is here by putting it in Experimental, one would think that the 26H2 stamp means features are locked down and it's now bug tested until October? I don't even pretend to understand Microsoft's strategy for Windows Insider Program though
