2011 Steam Summer Sale

Recommended Posts

^ you sit there and wait for 10 oclock just to post first don't you :p

Yup :p (or 6 o'clock in my case), but usually nothing interests me (like today). There's another forum I visit that has a similar thread, but it's much more active. When the new deals go up the thread gets really active.

There doesn't seem to be much interest in this Steam sale from Neowin members, but it's not surprising as the deals don't seem as good, and the sales are of nothing new and exciting. The Christmas sale thread had 37 pages, and last year's summer sale had 39 pages. The Christmas sales are better, in my opinion.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl is the actual game and clear sky and call of pripryat are just new episodes?

No Clear Sky and Call of Pripryat are full games too they all revolve around the same area though. Clear Sky is a prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl and Call of Pripryat is a sequel. I think they are great games but can be buggy but there are a lot of mods for them.

im on the fence about the NFS pack...

You're not the only one. I'm tempted by it, but I'm gonna hold off for two reasons: I've gotta save up most of my money for my new PC build, plus they're crap. :p Well, Undercover is, at least. Hot Pursuit is probably the next worst of the lot; the SHIFT games are the best of the pack there, and they're much better if you've got a steering wheel to play them on. :)

For the first time in the sales, I'm tempted by a game or two. I'm looking at Defense Grid: The Awakening, and Wings of Prey. Defense Grid is being helped a bit more by the fact that you can all of the DLC for just three tickets instead of ?3.16. :)

yeah im not gonna jump. i got gt5 for my ps3 and it's really the only racing game i'll ever need.

Well, I finished most of GT5 ages ago, so now I'm waiting for Forza 4, and F1 2011, but I haven't got a steering wheel for the 360, and I don't want to pay over ?50 just for an adapter to use my Driving Force GT on the 360 in a cack-handed fashion.

Why didn't you but Defense Grid when it was on the sale of the day, now it is more money?

I haven't bought it yet. And I didn't realise it was cheaper at the start of the sale. Besdies, it's probably only an extra quid. :p

Yeah made a mistake in my post, which I corrected, but after you posted.

I think it was pretty cheap, and I amde the big mistake of buying the DLC LOL, didnt see it was the same as the prize. Big fail by me.

My girlfriend sold all my old XBox 360 games on Amazon. Its really pathetic the amount she got for each game (roughly $4-8/each after Amazon's cut). I've come to terms with not buying brand new games anymore and just buy them used or on Steam when they have these sales. I was really itching for RE5 when it was released, but I'm glad that I held out and got it on Steam for next to nothing. Its an OK game, but I would have been P.O. if I payed $59 for it.

Try, 'rohanrao' without quotation marks, thanks! :) Got mixed up with display name and ID...

Added.

This years sale seems to be very disappointing thus far :(

I agree! Maybe because there are far too many sales, and not many games have come out since to warrant a massive price drop. I have so many games on my list I need to play, and I just do not have the time.

    • They aren't going to want to. Most would just go with the 17 Pro and save money. Why would they want to spend $300 for basically the same thing? It's not worth it if there are hardly any changes from year to year.
    • 24H2 rolled out to the Release Preview Channel in early June 2024, so this coming a bit later in the Experimental Channel (formerly Dev) doesn't really say much more than earlier H2 releases that came out in October. I am not sure what the thinking is here by putting it in Experimental, one would think that the 26H2 stamp means features are locked down and it's now bug tested until October? I don't even pretend to understand Microsoft's strategy for Windows Insider Program though

    • The entire world moved to the vastly superior and now universally supported Dolby Atmos technology a very long time ago, mate.
