You want to take a website from the internet and import it into Dreamweaver?

Well, I'll give you the run through, but I honestly hope you're not planning on ripping someone else's work by doing this.

First off, create a new site in Dreamweaver. Once you do, you'll have a folder for the site. It'll be empty. Next, you'll need some kind of software to download web sites. Image Downloader should do the job for Windows, and Web Grabber works for Mac. Go to the site you want to import and download it via the instructions of the program you're using. Make sure to download the contents of the site to the folder created back when you made that new site in Dreamweaver. Now go back to Dreamweaver and open up your site. Voila.

Downloading other sites is fine, for learning how certain things are done in HTML and such, but please...don't copy someone else's work wholesale. It's just plain wrong.

Trust me, I just want to learn how the guy built certain objects / things in his site.

I would never do that to him, he is the GOD of photography, and has my utmost respect

BTW thanks for the help

1) Says you joined in '02 but that's not important

2) You typed the whole first line of the thread title in caps, then typed the description in small letters. At some point you DID realise your error. ;)

Nobody's stressing, except the emoticon. :D

If you want to see how a Flash web site functions on the inside, you're mostly out of luck. You can't pick apart a Flash file in Dreamweaver; Dreamweaver is only for editing HTML, PHP, ASP, CFML, CSS code and the like. Even if you download and save the .swf file, it won't help you, because Flash files are in essence "compiled". That means that to edit anything or to dig around to see how it is built, you need the original .fla file, which you won't get unless the author gives it to you.

mr rogers you are mistaken. it's funny im in talks with a fortune 500 company webmaster as we speak after proving to them at 8 am this morning that a flash capture program can take the flash from the website alonmg with the code. then a program can be used to remove the copy protection, and then decompiled to edit or change the fla. file in dreamweaver which I did today in flash mx 2004. funny now the company wants to hire me to prevent this being done in the future when all they had to do was add a few lines of code. but it can and is done.

    • You are clueless. The updates are done in the background so the next time you open Edge the updates are applied automatically. There is no need to close all your tabs. Just keep browsing like you normally do. Clearly you don't use Edge and are just one of those haters that complain for the sake of complaining.
    • I don't get this David. Can you explain it please.
    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
    • Now disable that stupid OneDrive backup request when Windows starts please. So unbelievably frustrating to only have “remind me later” instead of “no and never ask me again”
    • Hello, The Media Creation Tool is still at v10.0.26100.7019 from October 2025. Just looks like the backend has been updated. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
