Lion Address Book - Plain Theme

As I can't stand the way the new Address Book (and iCal) app looks in Lion I decided to open up the Resources folder and get rid of the stuff I didn't like, as in, anything that makes it look like a book (a look popular back in 1993).

The app now looks like bad, as opposed to terrible.

In case anyone wanted to do the same I thought I'd share the new resource files.

If you don't know how to replace them:

1. Download the zip file.

2. Extract the images.

3. Right click Address Book, click Show Package Contents and browse to Contents/Resources/

4. Copy and overwrite the images in here with my ones.

The replacement images are just transparent PNGs.

iCal, you're next.

I dunno, I think that actually makes it looks worse. Mainly because there isn't a real title bar or toolbar anymore. I'd actually just stick with the default Address Book look in this situation.

That's cool. Although the Lion Address Book doesn't have a titlebar or toolbar, so not quite sure what you mean there.

Sorry, buy I quite prefer the default Address Book, nice for those that want something a little plainer looking

Same here, I quite like it compared to the somewhat ugly default iCal.

I think that was his point, because it doesn't have a titlebar or toolbar, without the default theme it looks plain compared to the other applications.

Which for me is major improvement over the book metaphor interface.
