hardly, ever one knows (ever one from 1980 to current) knows that FPS belong on a pc via mouse/keyboard support

The only reason a FPS should ever be on a console is, if that console also supports 100% keyboard and mouse support with out Aim Assist or Auto Aim...

RTS (read above) still true

Console can keep there Platformers, and games that do not need precise moment, or control

If I was a manger or someone working at GameStop/Ebgames I just ignore the letter, The Company dose not need to know that the coupons were removed in the first place. and I doubt head manager going to go around ever store to see if they have

No, it is subjective. There are in fact people, a lot of them, even people who grew up with pc among, and played on computers before you knew what a mouse was, that now prefer gaming on console. Your opinion is not an objective statement of fact.

I myself generally prefer console gaming now, some games like BF3 I will get on pc, but I would prefer it on console, I just don't think the current gen cam do it justice and I want to give my rig something to properly chew on as far as rts, most of them are better on pc, the way they are done. But the consoles are perfectly capable of doing very great rts games, Halo Wars proved that. It was a great RTS with controls hat simply worked, as well as a pc rts and in some way better.

I didn't "get on his case". I just showed up with a printed copy of the news story, and was very polite. I asked him what he knew about the situation since he engaged me first. I didn't know he was the store manager until he told me. I realize that the people at "this" Gamestop have no control over decisions made by corporate, but I assumed they may at least have some information about those decisions. The least he can do is go to his next managers' meeting and let them know that lots of people are getting angry with them over this decision.

It's their job to engage you. All GameStop employees are supposed to greet you as soon as you enter the building -- if you take the survey at one of the bottom of the receipts, it asks you questions about whether or not they engaged you and asked you particular questions. The fact that you took a printed copy of the story to the store with you indicates you were going there to ask them that question, so I'm not sure why you're trying to imply that you wouldn't have started the conversation had you not been engaged beforehand.

You're better off e-mailing someone higher up at GameStop than talking to a manager. A manager's job is only to execute the instructions they're given. They don't create policy. Also, judging from what he told you, he was either lying or flat-out wrong. The releases from both GameStop and Square-Enix mention absolutely nothing about what he claimed was happening. Again, no disrespect to anyone who works at a GameStop outlet, but they're not really informed about why decisions are made.

Except in your portal example you forgot to mention what you're getting for free is faaaaaaaarrrrrrr superior to the what you bought(as, let's face it, an fps is a joke on a console). Here is not the case however. Here what you're getting is a vastly inferior copy of the game on a futureless service.

Also, considering the fact that most of the crying children(including those here) would have never used the onlive copy, they're not really being robbed or losing anything at all.

How is it inferior?

Can you play Deus Ex on a netbook?

You can with OnLive.

It may blow your mind, but some people have a gaming pc and a laptop. If I'm on a business trip, I'm not packing my gaming pc...

What is there to know?

Gamestop sees OnLive as a competitor. They decided that removing the OnLive version is a good way to hurt their competitor. They did it.

What more information do you need?

I don't get the out cry over this. And the grocery story example was stupid as every grocery store has adds in the newspaper so each one pulling the others wouldn't make sense. Where as I doubt onlive is doing anything to promote Gamestop. I will continue to shop at Gamestop like I have for the past decade.

I don't understand how people could think Gamestop was in the

right by pulling stuff out of the gamebox. It's like me going to

Toys R' Us and buying a new G.I. Joe action figure... only to

discover that Toys R' Us removed the rifle from the packaging

because they'd rather you buy their own toy rifles.

With that said, can Gamestop be sued for theft?

that's a ****ty example...

it's more like you bought that action figure at toys'r'us and there is a free coupon to get the same toy at walmart...

Pulling the OnLive coupon doesn't disable the game, though, does it?

Toys R Us removing the rifle would affect the toy itself.

It's like going to Best Buy and buying a brand new TV that was removed from the box then stuffed back inside and sold as if it weren't open-box.

Or Best Buy selling you a brand new TV with all that stuff included except for the coupon for a free TV from Walmart.

Or Best Buy selling you a brand new TV with all that stuff included except for the coupon for a free TV from Walmart.

After manhandling the product and trying to sell it as if it were unopened and not exposed to the booger-ridden hands of some minimum wage dweeb.

I stand by my example.

The point was: it makes no difference WHAT got pulled out, or it's relevance.

The item was in the box because it CAME WITH THE PRODUCT. That's all that

matters. And as a part of the product, it should not have been removed.

Maybe it's a coupon, maybe it's a discount, maybe it's a collector's coin. If it was supposed to be there,

then there is an understanding when you purchase the product that you are

ALSO purchasing that item.

I stand by my example.

still doesn't make sense

this

Chances are some copies will sustain some level of damage from being molested by an employee.

then you can go back return it/exchange if you want like the memo mentions...

WHY is GameStop still in business??? Do people really continue to accept being ripped-off by this bull**** corporation??? They always have their game prices the highest around and hold onto that price for years! They are still selling Uncharted for $59.99 when it is $19.99 everywhere else! I will be glad when they close their doors and send the losers that work in these stores home for good. Blockbuster also needs to be taken down!

I do not trust those losers working at GameStop to not be theft-happy and jot down a whole bunch of codes from these boxes.

no they don't. i bought God of War 2 there new for 20 bucks when everyone else had it for thirty. also, they are not selling uncharted for that much. Yes best buy has it cheaper right now but that's because it's on sale at that location, it's still MSRP of 30. if you are going to hate one something, at least have legit reasons.

Was Deus Ex ever promoted as being sold with a OnLive coupon? If not, why such a fuss. I doubt anyone's major decision of buying this was, "Hey, I get a free onlive coupon with it!". But, if it was advertised as such, I could see a outcry.

And while it is pretty underhanded and shady of them to do such... It isn't making the game worthless or anything less than what it already is.

I don't agree with it, but from a business stand point, I see why. If you ran a gas station, and sold some product that was giving people coupons in it to go get gas cheaper or free at another place, you wouldn't keep selling it... not unless you wanted less business. It's just not fiscally smart for a business to promote their competitors in any way.

/shrug.

I only use Gamestop when I want to trade-in a game and use the credit for a used one, hardly ever new.

If I am pre-ordering I generally do it from Amazon, I hardly pay full price for a game considering most pre-orders give you 10 to 20$ credit off your next order, which is always another pre-order for another game, plus whatever additional "Order from Amazon and get xxx with your game!," promotion they have got. I pre-ordered Madden 12 and only payed $35 for it new which is about all I would want to pay for those games (if that) and got 10$ credit for that pre-order, and I get it on release day via UPS, so I don't have to run out and get it, it just comes straight to my business. Win-win.

So yeah, Amazon>Gamestop for pre-orders definitely.

:p

That has little to do with it, at least for me. I'm picky, and do not want an open game, even if it is new and never touched. It would make me feel better if it is still factory sealed.
