Joe Danger: The Movie

The Joe Danger Sequel Is a Movie Game that?s Not Based on a Movie

Back when I thought my time at the Penny Arcade Expo was going to be shortened due to a hurricane, I rushed to the area of the show where Hello Games was showing Joe Danger: The Movie.

I'd heard the game was looking great.

It was, and I shot this video to prove it. We're looking at Joe Danger: The Movie, which takes the gameplay of the first game?stunt-filled side scrolling racing a la Excitebike and Trials?and moves it into the context of the title character zipping through the sets of one extremely varied movie.Joe races his bike through city streets, hits the snowy slopes on skis and a snowmobile, careens through a Western in a mine cart and jetpacks through a town attacked by robots.

This new one seems like an enjoyable upgrade. It's certainly great to look at and was one of the more attractive downloadable indie games at the show.

Joe Danger: The Movie is slated for an early 2012 release, but the developers haven't even sorted out their multiplayer modes yet, so we'll see. The game was shown on Xbox 360 and PC at PAX, but no platforms are confirmed and Hello doesn't sound like they're skipping the PlayStation 3, where the original Joe Danger was a downloadable gem.

Incredibly kick ass the game is going multiplatform. Everyone should have the opportunity to play this game. It is easiest one of the best PSN titles that has been released, and a few of us with PS3's here were going back and forth battling on the friends Leaderboards for awhile.

I also really like the sound of a bit more variation. Even though I literally never got tired of the scenes and gameplay on the first game, it sounds a whole lot more fun with some variation. Also adding a MP aspect, just "do not know" yet what it will be.

Usually not one to do this (meaning reply to a thread I started which no one has commented in yet), but I do feel the game is worth it. It may look terribly simplistic, but that is actually what makes it genius.

With that said, I guess there is not much to comment on with a preview like this, so all I will say is make a mental note to put Joe Danger on your radar. The devs really got something special here.

Will look forward to the new battles on its release. Loved the first one, although never completed it.... maybe that's something I should do this weekend.

Indeed. (Y)

And yeah, I never beat it either. Got to a point it was damn hard. I think it was a flawless run that had me stuck IIRC.

    • I'm not sure about that, but it at least "does" a version of 7.1 that this brand new card doesn't....

    • I can barely recall getting web results from a file search... I must've turned it off long ago. 26H2 is Insider's Preview build 26300.8697, which I am running, atm. It is not available for people running the standard commercial builds of Windows--only for the beta test Insider's group. But anyway, as mentioned in the thread, this feature has been around for a long time...
    • Speak for yourself. I saw it on Feedly, came here to read it, and did read it until the steps to activate. I skipped them to read the last paragraph. I knew it was probably not "the most requested feature", but knowing Neowin, I knew the article was going to talk about a feature nonetheless. I've seen Neowin in its best and worst.
