j1232
So I installed windows 8 Beta a long time ago on a seperate drive. Used it about a month then installed Windows 7 back onto the computer on another Dive/partition. soo for the past months I everytime I boot I get prompted as to what windows I would like to boot in. How do I remove this selection or uninstall Windows 8 off the other drive/partition? Overall I want to simply format the other Drive/partition and not have anything to do with it again. . Soo a few questions Can i simply format the other Drive with windows 8 on it and not be effected? How do I edit the Windows Boot Menue or Grub whatever you want to call it? UPDATE! OK I installed the new version of Windows 8 the Developers Beta and now I still have a boot menu but its a new one with colors. . it askes if I wanna run Windows 7 or Windows Developer Build. . the Windows 7 is NOT the windows 7 Build it is the OLD Windows 8 now HOW do I remove this or go about uninstalling it. . or if I format how do I remove it from the boot menu? +BudMan MVC Posted October 20, 2011 MVC Share Posted October 20, 2011 Not sure about windows 8, but in windows 7 you can edit what is listed in your boot menu http://www.<< spam >>/tutorials/2282-default-operating-system-change-default-boot-os.html How to Change the Default Operating System to Start in Windows 7 and Vista If your saying your new boot menu has color I would assume it updated to new windows 8 version, somethings might have changed - I have not played with w8 much as of yet. Have it running in a VM, which from first look -- it sucks! Does not seem like a desktop OS at all, more like for a phone or pad or something. You could grab easybcd to work with the bootmenu as well http://neosmart.net/wiki/display/EBCD/Windows+7 edit: btw I would prob suggest you look into virtual if you would like to play with other OSes in the future. Its a much easier safer way of playing with other OS for sure. VirtualBox works great and FREE!!
