I wish dying has more consequences to it.... I'm not sure I like all the streamlining and actually miss some of the things from Diablo 2 that I didn't think I'd miss at all... Things like

* Not having points to spend in character attributes (int, con, str, wis, dex)

* Not having much selection (at least at the early levels) for skills

* Are there no socketed items? I guess I miss the rune-words and collecting those in the hope that you will eventually have something really good.

* Running to my corpse after dying to get all my items before a monster wrecks my naked body

Idk why but...i miss those things.

Ah, that's a bummer.

Still on the fence in getting this or not. My buddy keeps trying to talk me into it but a) I'm not building PCs like I was during D2 so I'm on a MBP b) the server issues would frustrate the hell out of me. But I really miss the series, especially the MP stuff.

I'd just wait it out a bit. Let them sort the issues out between errors, server downtime, lag, and all that sort of junk. Just because the game was released doesn't mean you have to decide right now. :p

@Hawkman - You wand has a higher +dmg modifier. And that just shows ya how good +dmg is. I recommend it on your rings, amulet and weapon as well as stacking rubies (i believe) in your weapons. At lower levels at least +dmg awesome. No idea how it'll turn out in hell/inferno.

Yeah I know, the wand pretty much is overall bett because it has better stats. However according to the comparative tooltip, the staff should give me higher damage, but in reality it gives me slightly lower.

The one thing that bugs me is that there's to much universal gear, in armor anyway, chain ail armor can be used by anyone, but look completely different on each class. It streamlines and makes it easier sure, but, I dunno, there should be different armors for different classes. Well there are some like the cloaks for the demon hunter and wizard hats but...

- I miss this too, I would also like that kind of customization.

* Not having much selection (at least at the early levels) for skills

- It does pick up, also selective mode lets you place any skill anywhere as well as multiple of the same skill with different runes

* Are there no socketed items? I guess I miss the rune-words and collecting those in the hope that you will eventually have something really good.

- Starting in ACT II you begin getting Gems and can get Socketed Gear (the bsmith lets you make a socket helm near the end of level 2 bsmithing.

* Running to my corpse after dying to get all my items before a monster wrecks my naked body

- This is one thing I don't miss. Though being a ghost is fun, I dont like having my items be taken away.

It's the same as D2, every class can wear every type of armor (as long as they meet the requirements), except for a few class-specific items. And because all the characters are modeled differently, it looks a bit different on each one of them. If anything, it's the norm for armor to not be class specific, don't see why that would bug you as pretty much every RPG-style game I've played since D2 came out has been that way (except MMOs, which typically define armor classes, D2, D3, Path of Exile, Torchlight, Torchlight 2, etc do not have armor classes). D3 is not an MMO therefore they didn't create armor classes.

@Hawk, did the wand have a higher attack speed? The staff might have a higher base attack, but the wand might out perform it in action due to how many attacks per second you can get off....

If you look on the weapons in the first screenshot, that big number it shows is the damage per second, not per hit, so it factors in the weapon speed already, and I'm pretty sure the character screen is also damage per second also, but can't remember as the beta is no longer running.

yeah the wand was slightly higher attack speed, 1.4 vs 1.1 is or somethign I believe.

it shouldn't matter though as the values are in DPS or Damage per second, so attack speed is factored in.

yes. I also commented on just that int he first post with the pictures, it actually factors in the intelligence the book ads, since if I remove it, then it increases the bonus in the tooltip.

most items show the correct changes in value in the comparative tooltip though, must be a bug specific to weapons, maybe two handed vs one handed or specific weapons. either way there's some bug in the display of the value in the comparative tooltip requiring me to double check the value old and new in the actual attributes box.

Enjoying the game so far. Few points:

- Not had any server issues after the first day so it's a non-issue for me.

- Playing coop is fun, but there is no extra tactics this way, the are monsters just harder. Why not create some combo attacks/defense? There are also no interaction between the other player(s) other than messaging. Seems a little bit old school for 2012.

- Music and the voice acting are notably excellent.

- The amount of destructive mechanics are a good idea and stops the world from feeling static!

- Scrap armour is totally useless, it doesn't even sell for any significant money. It just gets me annoyed if I pick it up! Why bother including it?!

Still have yet to pick up - but do plan on it. One thing i'm wondering... i have heard they removed LAN play. So is there anyway to get playing with friends only?

yes, there is the option to join a game with only your friends. Lets you jump right into the game and play with them.

From what I understand, when you start a game the default mode is friends-only, meaning friends can join whenever they want (assuming they are that far in the quest line or however it's locked down) but no one else can, you can then turn the game public (open to anyone) or invite only or whatever (can't remember from beta, I know there is public mode and I'm pretty sure you can set it so even friends can't join).

    • Mozilla highlights Firefox Nova 2026 redesign and more upcoming features with new roadmap by Sayan Sen Last month Mozilla confirmed that Firefox was set to get a major redesign this year. Dubbed "Project Nova", it can already be tested and will roll out to all users later this year. The idea is to keep the browser competitive in a rapidly evolving internet landscape. As such the revamp focuses on improving privacy, usability, performance, accessibility, and customization. Key privacy features including the built-in VPN, private browsing mode, and Enhanced Tracking Protection, will be more visible and easier to manage, while users will have the option to disable AI features entirely through a dedicated kill switch. Additionally, the redesign promises faster page loading, the return of Compact mode, expanded personalization options, and stronger accessibility support. You can find the full details in the dedicated piece linked above. In a new blog post today the company once again reiterated on Nova and also emphasized other new and upcoming features like the settings revamp that is intended to make it easier for users to understand browser settings. In order to make it simpler for users to keep up with such features Mozilla today is launching Firefox roadmap. Hence enthusiasts and interested users will be able to check out what's cooking and also share feedback about the upcoming additions. Alongside the roadmap announcement, Mozilla also highlighted what's new in Firefox 152. One of the biggest additions is the arrival of Tab Groups on Android. The feature, which has already been helping desktop users organize large numbers of tabs, is now beginning to roll out on mobile. Users will be able to group related tabs together, assign names and colors to them, and return to them later. Mozilla says support for iOS will arrive later this year. Firefox 152 also introduces the aforementioned redesigned Settings experience. The company says the changes are meant to make controls easier to find and help users discover features they may not have previously known about. Existing preferences are not changing, though they are now better organized. Another notable addition is the new Blocked Tracker Widget, which provides a visual overview of Firefox's privacy protections by showing how many trackers have been blocked over time and the types of tracking activity the browser has stopped. Looking ahead, Mozilla revealed several upcoming roadmap features. They include customizable keyboard shortcuts, as well as enhanced PDF editing tools that will allow documents to be split, merged, and reorganized directly within Firefox. The company is also working on bringing Multi-Account Containers into the native Firefox experience thus removing the need for a separate extension. Meanwhile Firefox's built-in VPN is set to expand to mobile devices. Mozilla is also developing AI-powered features like Quick Answers, which can provide concise responses to voice queries, and Smart Window, its optional AI browsing experience that is now available without a waitlist. Finally, a new Power Saving Mode is in the works and will help reduce the impact of resource-heavy tabs on mobile devices in order to extend battery life. The video below summarizes the upcoming changes in an easy to understand format: You can find the announcement blog post here on Mozilla's official website.
    • Dead on arrival at that price. Like they missed the mark by multiple hundreds of dollars - this should actually undercut the Macbook Air at $899 if they want any sort of sales / further adoption of WoA
    • Wow, 50% increase for the base model. That's steep!
    • A group made up of dozens of cybersecurity experts, including several well-known veterans of the industry, published an open letter to the U.S. government asking it to lift the export control order on Anthropic’s Fable and Mythos models. According to the open letter, “this action has taken the best models away from [cybersecurity] defenders” who now can’t use the models to find vulnerabilities and make their software and products more secure. “To pull the best capabilities away from defenders without a good reason when our adversaries are rapidly advancing is dangerous,” read the letter. On Friday, the U.S. government ordered Anthropic to limit the export of Fable and Mythos, citing national security concerns, without explaining the specific reasons behind the order, according to Anthropic. In response, the company suspended access to the models to all users worldwide.     https://techcrunch.com/2026/06/15/cybersecurity-vets-protest-dangerous-us-government-ban-on-anthropics-most-powerful-models/
