All the loot is there, you just have to find it.

The AH is an easy way to get geared and you pay the price accordingly.

I've just got my lvl 18 hardcore monk almost fully decked in rares using the AH coz I don't want to die again )

Not really, to get the right loot you have to be either dead lucky, even then I don't see it happening or you're playing acts 1, 2 and 3 over again multiple times before diablo.

As for hardcore mode, I would never play that with a wizard anyway. Too many random one hit kills at the end, or halfway though act 3 and throughout act 4 you have the big teleported mobs that will suddenly teleport on top of you 4 at a time while smaller mobs are surrounding you and effectively one hit you.

So not entirely impossible then, not after getting more powerful gear then the game gives you through the AH.

Personally I find that to be a bit of a faulty game design, if you can't defeat the game with the gear you get or can craft throughout the game.

It can be done - however, some classes simply find it easier to do (at least on Normal in the Starter Edition against Leoric) - the barbarian, oddly enough, had the easiest time, followed by the monk. The wizard could NOT get it done at all - haven't tried witch doctor or demon hunter yet.

Sometimes I have to craft the same item more than 10 times to get the stats I need. The chance has always been part of the game. ;)

Leoric is easy, even with wizard, barb was easier as was demon hunter, but by no means was he hard with a wizard, you just need to keep a distance.

If you have troubles with him, you're never getting past the butcher, much less Diablo.

Energy Armor with force armor rune. At 60 with no Vit, you'll only be at like 6k HP, so nothing will hit ya for more than 2100. And if you get your life regen up to that per second, you'll get hit, and instantly get back to full HP. Combined with Frost Nova and Diamond Skin. Wizard has a seriously good build for inferno farming solo.

Yeah well, to get all that you have to survive to lvl 60 in Hardcore first.

This game is insane. I feel sorry for anyone who misses out due to being put off from launch day hiccups.

I have finished normal now with my Monk and have just started nightmare.

I can safely say that I probably wouldn't be running through the game again if it weren't for battle.net's persitant online connection. It really makes the game what it is, to have you friends dropping in and out sweamlessly, being able to compare loot and see when they score achievments, and to be able to read the general chat if your questing solo. Combined with things like the AH it never really feels like a solo game, even if you are questing solo.

Horribly addictive.

ps. no connection issues or lag yet even on my crappy adsl, touch wood, apart from the first hour on laucnh day

Being a Wizard with 6k HP @ 60 is a bad idea. I've got 9k and im only at 39 or 40. I just get gear that has both Vit + Int

You are intentionally aiming for very low HP at 60. In order to to get the best use out of Energy Armor with force armor rune. Combined with high life regen, you are nearly indestructible.

I rarely went for vitality items with my level 51 Monk and now it's biting me in the ass. I do about 3.6K damage with 7.5K HP. With my current items, I can increase my health to 10.5K but that would decrease my damage to 2.2K. I just started Act 1 in Hell mode and it's not easy at all. My health is so low that anytime I get it, it drops considerably. It could be worse but because my dodge chance is pretty high (41% with my mantra), I can survive long enough to heal up.

For those that haven't played Hell mode yet, make sure you have the best gear you can afford. I'm really tempted to play through Nightmare mode in the hopes of finding better magic items (one level below rare items). That, and farming lots of gold to spend on items from the auction house.

So you will play through nightmare again - or can you skip straight to hell mode?

Question: Are legendary items random stats or are they set items? I've only found one so far. But was just wondering.

I wish you could customize the way your character looks. I would feel more invested in my character then.

The problem is, gear hides 90% of the character, ontop of that the camera is never close enough to make out details. The only real customization that you could do is the voice (which would be cool if they let you do, I mean my female monk is apparently russian).. I mean aside from being able to do that, and the fact you can already dye gear, I don't see why you need to do any more.

I might play through Nightmare mode again because it's easier than Hell mode. You can't skip Nightmare mode though. You'll need to complete it in order to unlock Hell mode. And you can't join someone that's playing in a mode that you haven't unlocked yet.

As for your question, I think some stats are fixed and others aren't. You're quite lucky to have found one. I've put in over 45 hours into Diablo 3 and I haven't found one yet. My brother, however, just started playing and found a level 10 legendary witch doctor mask at level 15. Also, my friend who started playing around the same time as me also found a legendary item. The stats were not good so he put it up on the auction house for 40K gold.

Yup..this game is definitely going to hold my attention for awhile. I'm loving how they did the multiplayer! Very casual, you can just jump in and play. Excellent.

Why is it that some of my friends I can join their games but other friends I have to ask them to invite me?

Does that have to do with the 'Public Games' button once you login? The friends that have to invite you probably haven't made their game available to public.

I decided to go ahead and get this game, as something to hold me over to GW2. When I played with my friend I didn't think I would like it at all, and I didn't then.

But after I bought it and played some more with him, I realized the game isn't that bad. Now I am kind of hooked -_-.

Had a 4 day weekend come up due to some construction being done on our business property, so me and 3 other friends pretty much just played D3 the past couple days.

I went with a Monk. Level 55 at the moment, on Hell mode. At first I had trouble, but after working out a build, it is mostly a breeze. No longer the wrecking ball I was through Normal and Nightmare, but now I basically cannot die (except lame ass elite mobs with Arcane Lasers/Wall/It doesn't matter what the third one is cause the first two destroy you :p) Finished Act I, and beat Maghda on Act 2. The Butcher gave me a slight bit of trouble on Act 1, mainly the ground fires.

At 23k health, 3674 DPS, 55% damage reduction from armor (3447 armor).

I always made sure when browsing the AH to set the stats to Dex>Vit>(Optional)Has Sockets. I don't see how Hell would be doable with that little of an HP pool.

Here is my build. Attacking with Fists of Thunder with Quickening gives me nearly instant full Spirit, using Spirit heals me, constantly refreshing Mantra of Healing during the fight for Boon of Protection makes me mostly invulnerable, and using it heals me back to full anyway. It is a nice circle.

I plan on switching from 'Resolve' to 'One with Everything' as a passive, once I get my Fire resistance up to a good number.

Well despite not wanting to spend my money on it to support Blizzard, my father wanted to re-create the fun we had with Diablo 2 and bought it for both of us. After playing for the weekend, he feels it is slower than D2 was (can't really get rushed except for a higher level helping you out, no quick way through the acts like D2). And while I agree, so far after getting past skeleton king the game does become much more interesting than the beta was. Not to mention you get to nightmare and champion mobs get new modifiers and what not (extra health, arcane enchanted, etc), which makes it not only more difficult, but more interesting as the groups you encounter require new tactics even after going through all of normal mode.

Though I do find it a little bit annoying the way the acts work, you can't travel between acts without remaking the game (when you beat an act you can travel forward to the next but can't go back without recreating the game). Not only are people separated by difficulty, but what act they are on.

I don't think Blizzard accomplished what they wanted to at all as far as skill runes go, they wanted it so everything was viable (to an extent), and there weren't really any "best builds", but despite their attempts, there are still skill configurations that work better 90% of the time than others.....then the game gets difficult enough as you progress that some skills just are not worth a slot on your bar.

That being said, my highest is a level 34 or 35 (can't remember) monk, and so far definitely my favorite (hate how fragile all the casters are, at least at the lower levels), though I started working on a barb and am having just as much fun with it (I actually prefer some of his skills over my monk, and can see it becoming more powerful than my monk at the same level due to some of those skills).

I still feel this is a Diablo sequel only in story, I don't think they captured the feel of D2 in any way......it's a fun game but it doesn't feel like D2 did. I also hate how you can't really magic find in the same way, you have to redo the entire quest leading up to the boss to get to the boss, in a game where drops are so random, they shouldn't force you to do a full quest just to get to the boss, it slows down how quickly you can farm by a ton, but perhaps that was the purpose of the design, so people have to play longer to get good gear.

    • I think you meant the "ntfs3" driver, but yes there have been a lot of fixes for it in this release and previous releases, not 100% sure if the issue you mentioned is fixed though. In any case, the new "ntfs" driver in 7.1 doesn't have that issue (at least, no reports of such have come thru), but your kernel needs to explicitly enable support for the new driver first (like how CachyOS kernel has it), and you need to edit your mount points in /etc/fstab to use "ntfs" instead of the other drivers.
    • Epic Games says Unreal Engine 6 will help developers "build content faster" using AI models by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Epic Games is rolling out the latest major update to Unreal Engine 5 today, and at the same time, the company also dropped some information on the next-generation version of the product, Unreal Engine 6. This was already revealed a few weeks ago alongside the new Rocket League upgrade reveal. The company says it is combining the features of Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite to create this new version of its popular media creation tool. On top of creating entire games, the new engine will also focus on letting developers operate large-scale live service titles more easily, whether by shipping content into their own ecosystems or into Fortnite. The use of large language models is also mentioned here, with Epic saying it will be a core part of the engine. "We see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need," adds the company. Here is the rundown of what's new about version 6 of Unreal Engine: With all these changes to the programming model, portability upgrades, and generative AI integration, Epic says the new version of the engine will "change a lot about how games are made." The company aims to ship Unreal Engine 6 into early access in late 2027, with a full release planned for 12-18 months later. Epic Games also dropped a lengthy blog post about the new Unreal Engine 5.8 update for game developers over here. The release is focused on delivering better performance, customization, and streamlined workflows for development teams. This will be the final major update for this version of the engine before Epic switches to focus fully on Unreal Engine 6's early access launch.

    • That is the thing, how many of these people don't realise they are using AI? If they use Google Search they have no choice but to use AI. So yes, maybe half of American adults do use and I expect a lot of Uk adults do to, but I bet most of them don't realise it. Myself, i avoid the rubbish.
    • They use FREE AI. They aren't paying for this meme-generating slopware...
