Is this game dead already?

It is dead. It is barely selling anymore. Barely over 20 million copies sold. So dead.

Diablo 3 on pc has like 4 buttons you need to worry about.

Lies! There are two more on the mouse!

With all that said is it ever on sale?

The holidays, no doubt. They've started doing those bit more often lately.

On amazon Diablo 3 is technically on sale right now for $26.95. The expansion is also on sale for $25.95. This is for the pc of course.

The Ultimate Evil edition (which is the console version) isn't out yet I don't think so it's probably not gonna be on sale anywhere.

Best Buy has D3 and RoS for $20 each this weekend (not sure when the sale ends exactly).

Depends on who you ask.

And your post is kind of phrased like you think it should be.

I suppose it's dying. Just like the other Blizzard games, Diablo is losing it's fanbase and I think even faster because the game is boring. Yes, it's exciting to beat it once, but after that? Rift, rift, rift, farm, farm, farm. Unbalanced classes and skills while the patches are rarity. So what is there to play? Of course to some people this may be exciting but usually when a developer loses interest in supporting it's game, it's a bad sign. They even stopped the auction which gave the players some reason to keep grinding. There are no release dates, no feedback at all, not any sign Blizzard cares about this game anymore. Don't get me wrong, the game is still awesome, but I think it's dying pretty fast.

Yes, maybe it sold some 20 mil copies but I don't see how that's relevant.

Developers are losing interest in their game? Is that why they released a major expansion a few months ago, are working on a big patch right, now and it's all but been announced that their will be a second expansion?

Well they are still releasing expansions for WoW but this game's dying pretty damn fast too. Yes, a new patch without a date is said to be coming but it sure as hell won't target all the bugs that are currently present in the game. This kind of game just requires updates more often.

Stop extrapolating what you think onto the entire population. Speak in terms of your opinion, and other's might begin to take you seriously. This tone of absolute fact that you pretend to possess is arrogant and tiring.

What I said IS fact (source of my statements being Blizzard themselves), my only opinion is that it's dying. And why yes, I have the right to express it just like you did. If you don't like it, show me I'm wrong. Everything else is irrelevant (including your feelings).

My gf and I got the game for the PS4 last Wed.  Haven't had a ton of time to play but for co-op she's playing a Wizard and I'm playing a Demon Hunter.  We're starting on the lowest difficulty figuring it's a long term thing and we'll go through all of them one at a time.  We just got to Act II.   For solo play I made a Crusader and set it to the highest available difficulty (3rd?), the rest seem to require you complete Act IV before you can use them.  Solo I just defeated the Skeleton King. So far we're liking it a lot.  The Demon Hunter seems to be a perfect fit for me so I nailed that and the Crusader become more enjoyable once I opened up smite as it gives me decent ranged attack.  I'm still not sure it was the best class for soloing though as taunts and party buffs seem to be a big part of his skill set and don't do a whole lot when you're soloing.  Again though I'm having a good time.  Nothing really beats sitting on the couch with the gf though killing hordes of monsters, rofl.

I hope to try out 4 player local co-op soon with my only concern being that we already have to stop fairly often to check gear/skills... I imagine that's even worse with 4 players so I could see that really bogging things down.  I can see us playing this for a while unless Alienation blows us away and takes the 4-player co-op crown:

WoW is only failing in comparison to itself in it's prime. Name a single other game besides LoL that can boast as many active players. As much as it pains me to say it WoW is still doing extremely well.

Your unreasonable hatred is showing, and I'm not sure I understand it. You don't like a game and that's perfectly okay but to say it's dieing and the devs are losing interest when that runs contrary to the facts is strange.

looks like the 2.1 patch is likely for tomorrow (PC version only)

new patch files were uploaded to the official servers today

Cool. I wasn't expect the patch to hit until mid September. I'm looking forward to seeing how nerfed and buffed my Crusader has gotten at the same time.

From what I've read on the ptr forum it should be a net gain.

Crusader is a monster solo class. You shouldn't have any trouble beating every single thing in the game with it with okay gear.

Here's my Crusader if you want to see an example of a strong build. For killing bosses I run Phalanx - bowmen but when I'm clearing an area I run Steed Charge - Endurance instead. I'm capable of doing torment 6 with this but it's a little slow. I tend to stay in torment 3, 4, and 5 because killing stuff faster trumps higher drop rates. The more you kill the more loot you get.

Another thing to note though is that my build is somewhat gear dependent. Without Fate of the Fell it's not going to be nearly as effective.

Also it's probably gonna be hard to find a full group until you hit level 70.

Also it's probably gonna be hard to find a full group until you hit level 70.

That's fine because I have no intention of playing online multiplayer. I'm at hardcore gamer at heart (spend a ton on games, even build a gaming rig every few years) with the time to game of a causal gamer (I have a bunch of games I've never even played, rofl). So I buy games the big kids play but only get 30 min or so a few times a week to play (all games combined) and half of that is co-op with the gf. This results in me pretty much sucking at most games compared to people who play for hours and day and generally making my online gaming experience awful. We got Diablo for the PS4 for it's LOCAL coop not online, I doubt I'll ever play with anyone I've not met in real life.

Your character looks amazing though!

I don't think you need to devote a lot of time see the higher difficulties in Diablo 3. I only have like 400 hours combined on all my characters over the 2 years since the game came out. That comes out to less than an hour a day.

Of course there are times when I play 5 or 6 hours a day and then go weeks without playing, too. Which is more common than me playing every day.

I'm kicking ass as a Crusader on expert. Got a legendary two hander from the skeleton king and thanks to the Crusader passive that allows you to one hand a two hander and keep a shield I'm good to go. Love that passive now :D

Your unreasonable hatred is showing, and I'm not sure I understand it. You don't like a game and that's perfectly okay but to say it's dieing and the devs are losing interest when that runs contrary to the facts is strange.

Your accusation is deprived of logic. I said a few posts above that Diablo 3 is an awesome game. Now you put words in my mouth. I really don't understand why are you so butthurt. As if you got credits in the game.

To me, the dev is not showing enough support. For casual players it may be enough, but for the majority of hardcore players it isn't. But I totally understand Blizzard, that's not an easy task. Diablo 3 isn't a multiplayer oriented game (except the co-op).

It's good you still find the game interesting. It just got boring for me and a lot of other people on the Blizzard forums feel the same way as me. It just doesn't offer the rewards it used to offer before.

Got into 2.1 last night in between DDoS attacks.  Love all the improvements so far. I think my favorite is probably the coin counter...lol, its always the small stuff.

Wish they had "sell all" buttons similar to how they have "savage all" buttons now.  Seems like a logical...oh well, probably next patch.

Frame rates are much improved on, overall, I think. I'm noticing less stuttering in game on my 7 year old rig.

I rejoined the Neowin community but see nobody else there.  I think I handed the leadership role to Razorwing before I left. Nobody in my clan is playing right now. I need to find a new active clan before Seasons start.

Blah.  I keep saying this over-and-over again in this thread, but you are blasting a game that only gave you 10's of hours of good gameplay as oppose to perhaps 100's.  For you, I suspect that you've invested 100's of hours of gameplay in Diablo 3 and are bent because you did not get 1000's out of it before you were bored. Get real man. You don't like the game, you are done with it but yet you still want to talk about it. If you really want it to die off, you can start by being the first to ignore it ;).

the bonus gold is a little crazy right now. I did a regular Tier 3 rift last night and netted around 3Million gold for the run.

I'm enjoying it!! Might actually get some gems upgraded.

Yes, maybe it sold some 20 mil copies but I don't see how that's relevant.

Best crap talk NA.

By that ideal, every game starts dying seconds after it is released.

Here is a link to an infographic from Blizzard stating that the game is doing just fine.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/9691895/diablo-iii%E2%80%99s-one-year-anniversary-infographic-5-20-2013

While the daily numbers for the game are not as impressive as other games the game is doing just fine. I never have to wait to get into a game with others and there are always plenty of peopel to play online with in just my region. I would not say the game is dead by any stretch of the imagination.

the bonus gold is a little crazy right now. I did a regular Tier 3 rift last night and netted around 3Million gold for the run.

Forgive my ignorance but I'm new to the game.  I have the PS4 version (which I don't even think the gold bonus applies to) and I have more money then I know what to do with.  What do you even use tons of gold for?  Most of the stores sell crap that's worse than what I've crafted/found (on my first playthrough even... without handing down items from prior playthroughs).  The crafting prices and such are low compared to how much gold I find just adventuring.  My limiting factor is getting ingredients (you can't buy those can you?)  My gems upgrades are done up till I need some ingredient I don't have in addition to just money.  My blacksmith upgrades are done well past my level (and they carry over to other characters so that even LESS they'll have to spend in the future).  I don't even know what I could be saving up money for so why I would care if the money drops were multiplied, I already have more than I know what to do with.

    • Forza Horizon 6 gets big bug-fixing and balancing update by Taras Buria Today, Playground Games released a big Forza Horizon 6 update with a long list of fixes, patches, and balancing tweaks that the studio promised earlier. Version 375.327 is now available on Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox, offering users improvements for AI, audio, design, performance, road discovery, upgrades, visuals, online play, and more. Some of the most notable changes in the Series 2 update include rebalanced drivatars, particularly their difficulty and race start behavior. As such, the game should be more balanced on higher difficulty levels, and AI cars should not shoot out when the race starts as if they have rocket boosters. Speaking of difficulty, developers nerfed Drag Tires physics for a more expected and realistic behavior. They are no longer the go-to option for record-breaking times in road racing, and all leaderboard entries with drag tires will be removed. Completionists will also be glad to get a new feature that lets you see road discovery percentage in each region, which should make discovering all roads easier while keeping it quite challenging and interesting (I spent quite a long time finding the last road). Festival Playlist is also getting some much-needed fixes, including patches for bugs that allowed completing Seasonal Jobs ahead of time or where weekly challenges would not unlock for some players. Developers will retroactively give reward points to all who could not complete all challenges due to these bugs. Other changes include changes to Horizon Play progression so that it is easier to reach Level 100, audio improvements on lower-spec devices, fixes for visual glitches, including pixelated smoke, and more. Developers also addressed the currently non-working Eliminator, an online mode gamers used to farm credits with a Hummer EV exploit. Playground Games plans to re-enable it soon. As a gesture of goodwill, players will get a free McLaren Sabre. Those who used the exploit will not be banned, but developers plan to roll back credits to a maximum of 10M for all who farmed credits using the exploit. You can find the complete changelog for the latest Forza Horizon 6 update here.

    • Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced that Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now generally available to all users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Planner Agent is the latest addition in the string of AI features that Microsoft is implementing across virtually all of its products. The agent lets you manage tasks through natural language prompts directly inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. You can create and update tasks, check priorities, and get insights about current entries without leaving the chat interface. The general availability release comes with a handful of new additions on top of what was available during the initial rollout. A new plan picker lets you search and filter your plans by name, then update task names, statuses, due dates, or priorities through the agent. There's also a goals bucket now, which lets you group tasks under specific goals. This builds on the Goals view, a feature that was introduced as part of the broader Planner refresh that rolled out earlier. Image: Microsoft | Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot All AI-generated plans and tasks are created in draft mode by default, so you can review and approve changes before anything goes through. This is actually a thoughtful safety feature, because trusting AI to handle all your tasks without a human in the loop is usually a recipe for disaster. Having tasks initially saved as drafts is the best possible middle ground. Microsoft also says that not all tasks are executed equally. Simple tasks get processed quickly, while more complex ones, like building a plan from a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, are handed to a more capable model. Microsoft says this approach delivers the best performance, but it could also help with usage management, as you won't have to waste tokens on performing simple tasks. Planner Agent is available now across Teams, Loop, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps for anyone on a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.
    • To be clear I'm anti trump, the bigger point is why review this game at all?
