Imation SuperDisk

Recommended Posts

ok my friend found this disk that says SuperDisk that is like a floppy disk and he tried it out on his computer and he couldn't format it and was about to trow it out, when i saw it said 120MB i just had to take it and see if it worked on my computer, well turns out it doesn't work on my comptuer either.

anyone know if these type of disks work on regular floppy drives, or if i need some drivers for it or something,

i never seen a 120MB floppy so im just curious

120mb floppies only work on SuperDisk drives, your BIOS should support it, and there maybe software that is need to format 120mb disks :) ....

Also I've heard that standard 1.44mb floppies can be formatted to fit a couple of more megabytes using the SuperDisk drive, can anyone confirm this? :) ....

EDIT - found out that SuperDisk drives can format a standard floppy disk upto 32mb ....

Radish?

Also found out that from Windows 98 - XP that the drive is supported and that no drivers are required, only for Windows 95 - which is why the drive is discontinued now ....

Check here for more details ....

Radish?

so you need a superdisk drive to use the superdisk?

lol, what good would that do, i might be able to use it at my house if i had one but i can't take the file anywhere else cuz chances are they won't have a superdisk drive

well, i guess this disk belongs in the trash after all

if its a USB drive then you can carry the drive around :woot:

I've had supedrive's for a while. There were problems with Win98 drivers and WinME. They also conflicted with Orb 2 GB drives. You need the Drive units to run them. I currently have the 240MG Drive, which has the software etc to run normal floppies into 32MG, but they can only be used on the superdrive drive.

The 240MG floppies are too thin and are a pain to use. The drive units themselves are small, USB and quite handy, but as to your question: Without the drive unit the floppy for you is a placemat at best.
