nothin2seehere
Hiya, A little confused by the availability of the WiFi hotspot feature. Been reading that carriers can turn it off unless you pay for it. Would that be done at the software level, or would any Mango phone connected to that network be enabled or disabled by some sort of network trickery? In short: if I buy an unlocked, SIM free, unbranded Mango handset, will the WiFi hotspot work out of the box? Thanks :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1028632-wifi-hotspot-on-wp7-mango/ Share on other sites
Argote
As far as I know this feature is slated for a future update. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1028632-wifi-hotspot-on-wp7-mango/#findComment-594343394 Share on other sites
neo158
As far as I know this feature is slated for a future update. The reason for that is because it relies on having compatible drivers as well. Mockingbird
Two things I want to say. 1. Currently, only new 2nd generation Windows Phone (HTC Titan, Samsung Focus S, etc.) come out of the box with WiFi Hotspot. 2. XDA has successes with enabling WiFi Hotspot on 1st Windows Phones (Samsung Omnia 7, HTC 7 Mozart, etc.), but the feature is still buggy and disabled by default. This issues will be resolve in upcoming firmware updates which will enable WiFi Hotspot on 1st devices (except for the Dell Venue Pro) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1028632-wifi-hotspot-on-wp7-mango/#findComment-594350730 Share on other sites
