I was wondering whether you guys can states at what time in usage (how many months/years) the battery of the iPhone 3GS is (really) detetoriating?

I charge my iPhone daily.

Can it be that I start to see some battery decrease as compared to what it was new?

I'm facing the same issue too, but I guess it's probably got to do with the fact that I record (audio) my classes for 5-6 hours straight and then there's the casual surfing that I do through the day. Sometimes it's enough to leave me with a switched off phone by the end of the day, i.e. from 6AM to 8PM.

I'd suggest you drain the battery to 0%, so that the phone turns off on it's own and then do a full recharge.

It's very hard to compare how your battery should be because everyones use is pretty much unique. Batteries naturally deteriorate over time. Also, according to Apple your iPhone battery capacity will be reduced to only hold about 80% capability after 400 complete charging cycles. Just charging it once a day doesn't mean it went thru one charge cycle. Its how many many discharges equals one full discharge. For example:

-- Person A - depletes their iPhone 25% each day and recharges it each day. It would take them 4 days to equal 1 charge cycle.

-- Person B - depletes their iPhone 50% each day and recharges it each day. It would take them 2 days to equal 1 charge cycle.

-- Person C - depletes their iPhone 100% each day and recharges it each day. It would take them 1 day to equal 1 charge cycle.

This graph kinda shows how different depletion/charges can total one complete cycle.

Also as stated if you don't use your device often to get a full charge cycle each month or if your battery level monitor doesn't seems to be reading correctly you can try running the battery completely down once a month and charge it back up.

If you say you plug it every day, you have a normal battery.

It should drain from 100% to 0% in about 30 hours, with about one hour of 3G talk and about 1 hour of Wifi browse.

Mine depletes from 100% to about 30% with this usage, but from 7 AM to 11 PM.

What I do now is turn it off at night.

1. It helps the battery

2. My friends don’t wake me up when they send me SMS or try to call me.
