IE6 phucked? Wrong files and dates...

I downloaded IE6... I checked the version of the file I download [497kb - 2600.0000]. I then installed it. It downloaded all the components. All the compenents were date 20 June 2001, which is wrong as the installer is dated August something.

Then it installed. It first installed and then at the end says that the following components weren't installed... all of them. It then restarted. It then asked to install again because it didn't complete and it just did the same as last time.

I then checked and my version of IE is: 6.0.2479.0006. WTF? This is same version as the preview version.

I'm having EXACTLY the same problem as you on 3 different machines ! Carbon copy of what you've derscribed.

Upgrading from Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 btw.

I never installed the previews or betas at all on this machine, just the IE5.5SP2 update.

IE 6 definitely phucked.

Looks Like they need to fix a few bugs...Had the same problem with it not installing the first time through, however...my version is now at 6.0.2600.0000 Preview version? Not sure, but so far, so good. It looks good so far.

I have decided to try again today, and if it doesn't work I will try again in a few days. I have downloaded the correct file but it is downloading the preview verison ... whatever it is it gives me errors and an OLD version of IE6.

M$ have fixed it now - I'm now happily running 2600.

Usually I use the Corprate Windows Update site to get multiple downloads of service packs and updates, but IE6 is still not available there yet.

I just had to use the ie6setup.exe to download the files for ALL the os's that we have, and I just left it to download in work tonight, so when i come in tomorrow, I'll have ALL the files for all the OS's in our company, the full download squaring in at 52mb, upgrading from ie5.5 :)
