Best PHP IDE?

Question

I have tried using RadPHP (by Embarcadero). I can't really get into it (probably because I don't understand how to use it properly). I really like Dreamweaver, but it's a tad pricy for me and I'm not going to pirate it (it's just wrong, IMO).

Any suggestions? It doesn't have to be free.

PhpStorm without a doubt. Unlike most other IDE's it's actually built for PHP and not every language on the planet. I tried out pretty much everything from NetBeans to Eclipse/Zend Studio and PhpStorm beats them all. Works on Windows / Linux / Mac too so that's a big plus if you're in a multi-OS environment between work / home.

I AM GOING TO SHOUT so that you (OP) see this post. I've tried several IDEs but let me tell you, PHPStorm is the best. You have to try it. Netbeans and Eclipse have got nothing* on PHPStorm for PHP development. *exaggeration but not by all that much really

Another +1 for NetBeans. I started using it as my preferred IDE over Eclipse when I was studying Java development and just found it very usable. It was an easy choice when I needed something good for PHP development since it was already familiar.

Just tried WebMatrix. Version 1.x installed a lot of crap I definitely won't use, making my hard disk sound like a Warthog's gatling in the process. Beta installed two more of that crudware and then failed to even start up.

Another thing - I already got IIS 7.5 on my workstation, nevertheless it insisted on stuffing IIS Express there and created "My Web Sites" on my profile directory, a hidden garbage depot actually, my documents are elsewhere. And I puke (non-literally) whenever I see "My" prefix.

Now, I understand that Microsoft (like everyone really) would want us to use only their stuff their way. But have they ever heard of a concept named "optional" and "configure"?

I'd really like to give Microsoft a chance. I was drawn by Ribbon controls, for example, wanted to see if it's really worth it. I don't really see the target audience for this useless product.

Also, I don't believe it creates standards-compliant code.
