So I am looking to upgrade my current 19inch widescreen monitor thats from 2005 or 2006. I was looking at the Dell monitors. My work has a nice Dell 24 inch professional monitor. What is the difference between their professional monitors and their Ultra Sharp ones?

I was thinking of this one:

I REALLY REALLY like the idea of being able to change the height with it. It's 21.5 inches but full HD which is ok with me. It has IPS technology which I have been told is really good.

They also have Ultra-Slim ones which is about $50 cheaper for the same size.

Anyone have any of these?

I have 2 Dell UltraSharp U2412M monitors that I bought just last month. (Bigger brother to the U2212HM you are looking at.)

I love them. The IPS screen is a great step up from my old Samsung TN based monitors and the viewing angles are much improved. The ability to adjust height is also great, and the integrated USB hub is a plus as well. I would say go for the UltraSharp if you can.

Only do UltraSharp. The warranty is the best in the industry I find for them. Zero Dead Pixels for the warranty period and next day advanced exchange replacements to boot.

I have a Dell U2410 as my main screen and 2 Dell 2009Ws flank my left and right sides. Both UltraSharps and I won't buy anything else.

As already mentioned, go IPS. You'll be happy you did, trust us on that as well.

Just one word of caution. The anti-glare on some of the UltraSharp series is very obvious, and many people are turned off from these monitors because of it (especially those who love the "shiny/glossy" type of screens. Especially at larger sizes (my 27") due to dot pitch, the anti-glare artificially makes the whites seem a bit off-white, and introduces a bit of a "sparkling" effect (think, looking through a screen door). Granted, this is only a minority of customers with these complaints, but they are very vocal about it and it's something to keep in mind.

Ultrasharp by far. IPS technology is far superior to TN. If you can afford it I recommend the U2410.

However if you are a hardcore gamer don't get monitor with IPS panel they are a bit slower than TNs

Although it's true, as the response time of TN panels are faster than IPS panels, I've never had a program gaming on my 2007WFP and it has a 16ms response time. The U2212HM that Dane is looking at has an 8ms response time, so I doubt it'll be a problem.

Speaking of Dell monitors my U2312hm arrived at the door this morning.

Colors are great and accurate out of the box and the viewing angles far surpass anything a TN panel is capable of. Another huge plus is the sturdy construction and ergonomic features. Something you rarely find on anything other than a proper IPS monitor.

Is there any coupons to use to get a monitor?

The U2212HM is more in my budget maybe I would get the 23 inch but not sure. $219 for the U2212HM

Plus tax.

Dell is odd, I just got a car, and a credit card. I apply for dell preferred account. Denied. hmph.

Don't know about your timeline for getting one but the 24" one has price cycles, its been as low as $260 and as high as $399  it changes price every 4 weeks it seems like

Nice if it would drop down to $260 i'd get that. I can wait awhile to get it so I can save up.

Too many credit inquiries. Each credit inquiry dings your FICO score which is what creditors look at. I know, it's counter intuitive that opening a line of credit would make you less credit worthy, but there you go.

It is directly from Dell, that site just lists the deal.

My link was for the U2312hm anyway, which after the promo code is only $10 more than the U2212 you were looking at. I figured it was worth mentioning.

  • 1 month later...

Those Dell monitors are superb but I have questions.

Would you suggest 2410 or 2412m for

a) daily use,

b) movies

c) mid-high pc gaming,

d) for console gaming (xbox 360/ ps3)

Currently I use a 32" LCD-TV Samsung C650 and an AOC LM928 19" for all the above but the AOC is way too old and I would like to replace it, It's specs are: 8ms, 550:1 contrast, 16m colors, 1280x1024 and it might be a TN panel.

I use Samsung for gaming and for movies mainly but I cannot sit close to it most of the times.

I'm considering for a monitor that offers quality and some features as monitor rotation and 1920x1200 since I'm going to use it for years even though it's price is expensive or should I go for a cheaper one and get an ASUS or Viewsonic or whatever such as this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004T2LMP2/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=

I use my 2312hm (the 2410 and 2412m are even better) for general use, graphic design, and PC gaming. Everything looks fantastic. I have two TN panels sitting next to me on separate computers (for others in the house) and anytime we all play the same game my Dell blows their TN panels away.

Viewing angles are better, colors are more accurate and vibrant, and the response time (of 8ms) despite what some "hardcore" gamers say, is perfectly adequate. The sturdy construction and ergonomic features are a bonus.

I know I sound like a Dell spokesperson, but these monitors really are that good.

Since you are a Dell spokesperson, should I go for the 2410? It has a color support of 1 billion and offer more features but there is a huge price difference does it really worth that much or should I get 2412m?

For what you're using the monitor for I don't think you'll notice the difference. I'm confident you'll be happy with the 2412m.

If you were doing serious professional graphic design and what not I would probably suggest the 2410.

Also, have you seen this deal? Saves you a few bucks.

    • Microsoft brings Planner Agent to all Microsoft 365 Copilot users by Ivan Jenic Image: Microsoft Microsoft has announced that Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot is now generally available to all users with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. Planner Agent is the latest addition in the string of AI features that Microsoft is implementing across virtually all of its products. The agent lets you manage tasks through natural language prompts directly inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. You can create and update tasks, check priorities, and get insights about current entries without leaving the chat interface. The general availability release comes with a handful of new additions on top of what was available during the initial rollout. A new plan picker lets you search and filter your plans by name, then update task names, statuses, due dates, or priorities through the agent. There's also a goals bucket now, which lets you group tasks under specific goals. This builds on the Goals view, a feature that was introduced as part of the broader Planner refresh that rolled out earlier. Image: Microsoft | Planner Agent in Microsoft 365 Copilot All AI-generated plans and tasks are created in draft mode by default, so you can review and approve changes before anything goes through. This is actually a thoughtful safety feature, because trusting AI to handle all your tasks without a human in the loop is usually a recipe for disaster. Having tasks initially saved as drafts is the best possible middle ground. Microsoft also says that not all tasks are executed equally. Simple tasks get processed quickly, while more complex ones, like building a plan from a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file, are handed to a more capable model. Microsoft says this approach delivers the best performance, but it could also help with usage management, as you won't have to waste tokens on performing simple tasks. Planner Agent is available now across Teams, Loop, SharePoint, and other Microsoft 365 apps for anyone on a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription.
