Going Back to Dark/Demon's Souls

Recommended Posts

I bought both Souls games as soon as they were released in the UK, and absolutely loved both of them. Once I finished them however, I just sold them on eBay and bought something else. In particular, I finished Dark Souls on the day Skyrim was released, and I've been playing that and Witcher 2 quite a bit since then. However, I just have this nagging feeling in the back of my mind that even as great as these two games are (especially Witcher 2), the combat in Demon's/Dark Souls is so brilliant and utterly peerless that I just want to play them again! With everyone going on about how amazing the combat is in Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, it's making me even more excited about playing the Souls games again.

Has anyone else gone back to them after a while? If so, which is your favourite one in hindsight?

After playing both (not completing though if I'm honest); I have to say Dark Souls is my choice as it's that bit easier and I don't feel like the game is making me it's bitch. I feel pretty hardcore playing Dark Souls really, where Demon's Souls was just chipping away at my soul.

Both are fantastic games and I was surprised how tight the controls where when I first played it. I'd not read much about it other than it's very hard, so naturally had to pick it up when I saw it for cheap in my local video game store.

Strangely, I found Dark Souls much harder than Demon's Souls. I think it's the Soul Shard spell that probably made Demon's Souls easier to begin with. In the end I bought Demon's Souls again for about ?11, so I'm happy with that. When I can pick up Dark Souls for the same price I think I'll get that too. Other RPGs just can't match the combat in the Souls games!
