House to Conclude Eight-Year Run in May

It?s official: House is checking out.

Fox announced that the Hugh Laurie-fronted medical drama will conclude its eight-year run in May.

Statement From Fox?

After much deliberation, the producers of House M.D. have decided that this season of the show, the 8th, should be the last. By April this year they will have completed 177 episodes, which is about 175 more than anyone expected back in 2004.

The decision to end the show now, or ever, is a painful one, as it risks putting asunder hundreds of close friendships that have developed over the last eight years ? but also because the show itself has been a source of great pride to everyone involved.

Since it began, House has aspired to offer a coherent and satisfying world in which everlasting human questions of ethics and emotion, logic and truth, could be examined, played out, and occasionally answered. This sounds like fancy talk, but it really isn?t. House has, in its time, intrigued audiences around the world in vast numbers, and has shown that there is a strong appetite for television drama that relies on more than prettiness or gun play.

But now that time is drawing to a close. The producers have always imagined House as an enigmatic creature; he should never be the last one to leave the party. How much better to disappear before the music stops, while there is still some promise and mystique in the air.

The producers can never sufficiently express their gratitude to the hundreds of dedicated artists and technicians who have given so generously of their energy and talent to make House the show it has been ? and perhaps will continue to be for some time, on one cable network or another.

The makers of House would also like to thank Fox Broadcasting and Universal Television for supporting the show with patience, imagination and large quantities of good taste. The Studio-As-Evil-Adversary is one of the many clich?s that House has managed to avoid, and for that the cast and crew are deeply grateful.

Lastly, the audience: some have come and some have gone, obviously. This is to be expected in the life of any show. But over the course of the last eight years, the producers of House have felt immensely honored to be the subject of such close attention by an intelligent, discriminating, humane and thoughtful ? not to mention numerous ? audience. Even the show?s detractors have been flattering in their way. Making the show has felt like a lively and passionate discussion about as many different subjects as could possibly be raised in 177 hours. The devotion and generosity of our viewers has been marvelous to behold.

So, finally, everyone at House will bid farewell to the audience and to each other with more than a few tears, but also with a deep feeling of gratitude for the grand adventure they have been privileged to enjoy for the last eight years. If the show lives on somewhere, with somebody, as a fond memory, then that is a precious feat, of which we will always be proud.

Everybody Lies.

Should have stopped at the end of season 6. Although it would have made for a soppy ending it was by far the best finale of all the seasons, and has personally been a bit of a let down since.

I will be sad to see it go. It may not be as great as it once was, but i still enjoy every minute of it i watch. Despite that, i feel it's time to let it go. Hugh Laurie is too talented to be trapped playing House forever, especially if it continues it's trend of each season being weaker than the last.

House is about to close for good.

This season, the series? eighth, will be its last, its producers have decided. Producers David Shore, Katie Jacobs and series star Hugh Laurie made it official in a statement late Wednesday. Shore, the show?s creator, is originally from London, Ont.

House airs Mondays in Canada, on Global TV.

Their decision marks a quiet end to what was once one of TV?s highest-rated, most avidly watched weekly dramas. The final episode will air in May.

In all, 177 episodes will have been produced, ?about 175 more than anyone expected back in 2004,? the producers noted in their statement.

?The decision to end the show now, or ever, is a painful one . . . because the show itself has been a source of great pride to everyone involved.?

Laurie and Shore were both believed to be in the final years of their contracts.

Not surprising. It had a good run, and was a cool show to watch.

Curious to see how they will end it.

I saw it coming... me and my wife have watched every single episode starting from the pilot...but this season we just can't get into the show (we're still watching it but it's almost painful :/)

I feel the same way. I don't really like his new 'team' either. But I am still compelled to watch. Oh well.

Never watched House, but recently getting infected with the "Lie to Me" virus and knowing from the beginning it's a cancelled show, I felt so bad when I realized how great that show is. (Note: I realized its greatness on the first episode. Not rocket science, as it blew me away)

Knowing I'll be watching the last season this and the following weekend is so sad... I wish there was more!

It was unique and I guess that's what a lot of House fans are saying, too (about House).

So I feel for you guys, it sucks! :(

sucks! :(

Sidenote:

Damn... where do I get my Hayley McFarland now on a regular basis?

I watched tons of Gilmore Girls (excellent show! (Y)) back in the day, but that's not enough.

So.... It's not lupus? :shifty:

Maybe House will die of Lupus in the final episode... :o

Come on. We all know it's never lupus. Except for maybe that one time.

Its

Gonorrhea

Other than that, its about time I guess, that they are ending.

I've watched every single eipsode, and this season feels, kinda empty, something like taht. I don't know.

    • Google Finance is now out of beta with improved portfolio tracking and a new Android app by Karthik Mudaliar Google is taking its redesigned Google Finance experience out of beta and adding several new features, including portfolio tracking, scheduled market briefings, and a dedicated Android app. The company says the updates are beginning to roll out globally this week, while an iOS app is planned for later in 2026. The most notable addition is the new portfolio feature. Instead of entering every investment manually, users can upload a screenshot, CSV file, or PDF containing their holdings. They can also tell Google Finance what they own using natural language, such as the number of shares held in a particular company or fund. Google Finance will then place those investments into a dashboard showing performance, asset allocation, concentration risk, and the holdings responsible for the biggest gains or losses. Existing portfolios created with the older version of Google Finance should appear automatically. The built-in AI research panel can use the portfolio as context when answering questions. For example, users can ask which sectors are underrepresented or how their fixed-income allocation could affect long-term growth. Google says portfolio data will remain private and that uploaded files and images will not be retained. Users will also be able to edit or delete their portfolio information after it has been imported. Google Finance is also getting scheduled tasks. These let users request recurring reports such as a daily summary of overnight cryptocurrency movements or a weekly update about newly announced initial public offerings. There is also a new Google Finance app for Android. It includes watchlists, interactive charts, real-time market data, a live news feed, and the same AI research panel available on the web. Google has been gradually expanding the AI-powered Finance redesign since it first entered testing. In April, the experience was expanded to more than 100 countries, bringing its research tools, advanced charts, and market news to a much larger audience. That was followed by a wider European rollout in May, which added features including live earnings calls, transcripts, and AI-generated summaries. The ability to import an entire portfolio from a screenshot or document should make Google Finance considerably easier to set up. However, Android users will have to wait for feature parity with the web version, and Google has yet to say exactly when the iOS app will arrive.
