Xbox 720 has 'Wii U touchscreen controller' - Report

Recommended Posts

So now we have had rumors of an Xbox Tablet controller, a PS tablet controller, and we HAVE a Wii-U tablet controller coming. Regular controller please.

Where? I haven't read that.

*sniff, sniff* Yup, smells like BS. Soooo MS is going to launch its own tablet controller, AND offer that same functionality in their Windows 8 tablets (that will be out for a year by then) and Windows Phone. I sincerely doubt it. However, I would expect that a Windows 8 Tablet and Xbox 3 will have some similar to technology to the iPad/AppleTV (since that kinda barely already exists with 360 and Windows 7). I wouldn't even rule out a small screen , or a touch area on the controller, but a Tablet? Very very very unlikely.

i doubt they are doing anything like that and i doubt the source who claimns is making it up since MS has stated they are not working on the enxt xbox yet least not till year end i assume and i highly doubt Ms has any concepts yet tho i am sure they are discussing some plans of basic things like the next Kinect and stuff who knows.

Having touch screen on controller for secondary information sounds useful but is impractical (at least for me). You can sort of try this today, use Halo Waypoint's Atlas app (free on WP) and try to look at the map for player/weapon locations in a multiplayer game. I tried that a couple of times and ended up dead by the time I looked back at TV.

Microsoft may or may not do this but I don't see a point and is full of FAIL for me.

It would be useful if used in the correct way, but this is a rumour.

MS have invested too much in gesture and voice to have yet another way to control + battery life would be god awaful and the controller would be silly expensive...

This is not going to happen.

They've had concepts for the next xbox since the 360 came out. There is always someone working on the next thing as it just can't happen over night. If it comes out next year some game devs are bound to be working with early versions already.

well from all reports the new GPU/CPU chip wont be taped out or started production of till sometime in late summer so no they would not have an early version yet . and the only concepts they may have had after the 360 was donewas for the Xbox 360 Slim model

I personally prefer Boomascreen or Screenarang. Controller has always reminded me of a boomerang.

This can be a cool idea, if implemented in a good way, and doesn't make it a necessity for any game. Otherwise, having to have a small screen just to play a game would suck, and would spell out badly for PC versions. (Which I am strongly against.)

More proof that the Dreamcast actually came from the future.

I agree the Dreamcast has had a big impact on the way they consoles have been developed over the years. I feel sad that they are no longer making consoles as I still love my Saturn and my Dreamcast.

I for one hope that not they do not go with the touch screen control as I still prefer to have a controller in my hand instead of tapping a screen or waving my hands round like a lunatic.

This just doesn't seem likely... Sure, touch screens are neat, but the price of them would be a killer for people wanting the system. Everyone still complains and says the PS3's starting price was way too much... add in these type of controllers, and you will easily break that.

Certainly, why differentiate anything from anything when it can just be labelled under a broad sweeping generalisation, shoes for instance, let's go no further.

Contaburoller, is that a term we can all agree on?
