alexalex
Just after updating March 14, Windows 7 updates (12 updates), I tried to create a new folder. When giving a name to the new folder I got an error "Item not found : This is no longer located.....". Clicking on' try again' will allocate the new folder. When renaming the folder I got the same error. Renaming an existing folder will display the same error. Creating a new folder with the default "new folder" name brings no error. It seems like after the updates Windows 7 insist the every new folder will be named 'new folder'. The Dark Knight
Huh?! That's one of the strangest things I have seen! Are you sure it is only due to the updates? I updated and am able to name folders just fine! Try uninstalling all the latest updates and then check whether the problem persists. Though I highly doubt that any of those updates is the cause; has to be something else. alexalex
Have you tried the solution detailed in the link you posted? Not yet. I think that first I will try to cleanup the registry with jv16 app and after that the solution of deleting those registry keys. It seems like last Windows updates messed the registry. p.s Google has found 1,630,000 posts regarding this problem.Interesting, but copying folders to a USB DOK works ok even though new folders are created during the process. alexalex
Found another solution : Guide: Fix Windows Folder Renaming (Could Not Find This Item) http://www.techjawa....find-this-item/ here are some hotfix registry patches to apply to fix the issue. I?m sure Microsoft will get enough complaints about this to fix the issue, but in the meantime this should do the trick. As always, use this at your own risk, and don?t touch it if you?re unaware of what the registry is. FolderFix ? Includes both x64 and x86 versions, and should work on Windows 7 and Windows Vista. p.s I have disabled Libraries when I got my Windows 7 PC, 3 months ago. alexalex
Fixed by deleting these registry keys : Deleting the following registry keys, and rebooting, has solved the problem for me: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{2112AB0A-C86A-4ffe-A368-0DE96E47012E}] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{2112AB0A-C86A-4ffe-A368-0DE96E47012E}\PropertyBag] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{491E922F-5643-4af4-A7EB-4E7A138D8174}] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{491E922F-5643-4af4-A7EB-4E7A138D8174}\PropertyBag] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{7b0db17d-9cd2-4a93-9733-46cc89022e7c}] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{7b0db17d-9cd2-4a93-9733-46cc89022e7c}\PropertyBag] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{A302545D-DEFF-464b-ABE8-61C8648D939B}] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{A302545D-DEFF-464b-ABE8-61C8648D939B}\PropertyBag] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{A990AE9F-A03B-4e80-94BC-9912D7504104}] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{A990AE9F-A03B-4e80-94BC-9912D7504104}\PropertyBag] Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1058150-win7-something-wrong-with-yesterdays-updates/#findComment-594657542 Share on other sites
soldier1st
This is one reason i typically wait a time before applying the updates. Initial bugs(if any) will be fixed soon enough. This won't be fixed ever. This is a bug that plagued tens of millions users since Vista. firey
I had a weird problem that seems to have gone away recently, but I couldn't copy folders or files. Whenever I would try it would tell me the folder was in use. Now, I could delete the folder, restore it, etc, but I could not copy it. It hasn't happened for a few days, but yea was strange, and very annoying Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1058150-win7-something-wrong-with-yesterdays-updates/#findComment-594658134 Share on other sites
