BIOS Settings for CPU Help!

Recommended Posts

I have just bought a ASRock G41M-VS3 v2.0 and after I updated the BIOS the settings for the CPU speed were lost. As you can see the CPU speed is 1200MHz

So now I have a Intel Dual Core E5700 3.0GHz thats running way too slow and also DDR3 1333 memory thats also running underclocked.

For some resason everything is on Auto including the overclock mode. You would think that it would detect the CPU speed but it doesnt.

So what I am asking is.... what should the settings be for the Ratio CMOS setting and also the CPU and PCIE frequency?

I have tried to adjust them to higher values but I dont understand what they do as to get the correct balance.

Attached is the revelant BIOS screens. I hope someone can help as I am lost when it comes to BIOS settings for memory and CPU etc.

I must say though that this BIOS does allow you to overclock both the memory and CPU. Ive not seen a BIOS that allows this before. Not any I have had anyway.

Thanks for your help!

Matt

I see that version 1.7 (BIOS Update) modifies the North Bridge default voltage not sure if that is causing the problem! Have you tried to go back to BIOS Version 1.6 and see what that does? What dual core Processor are you using?

Try setting ratio to 15 but its odd that speedstep is disabled....unless you can set ratio to auto to enable it?

This should work^^

Overclock mode to manual

Multiplier @ x15

FSB @ 200

That would give a CPU Speed of 3000MHz

See what your RAM sits at when you set that up.

OK Thanks for that guys. I have set it according to what you posted above and the CPU Speed is now 2990MHz and I have added an additional 4GB stick of DDr3 1333 memory but the memory speed is still at 800.

The speed step is now enabled and on Auto. It enabled after I altered the multiplier. So its sill not quite right. I need to get the memory at 1333.

Your CPU is FS BUS is 800mhz hence the ram will ram at 800 and not 1333mhz... limit to ur CPU/Mobo there http://ark.intel.com...-800-MHz-FSB%29

HOWEVER

mobo states http://www.asrock.co...?model=g41m-vs3

- Supports DDR3 1333(OC)/ - OC meaning OverClock which you will have to Manualy Select and Mobo will never by defauly select this option

in your second picture .. DRAM Fequency where it says Auto ... change that it may have an option to manualy set it to 1333mhz and 1066... if it only shows 800 then ur out of luck for the easy fix ...

READ YOUR MOTHERBOARD MANUAL for the picture says to adjust Jumper Set on the Motherboard before applying 1333mhz to the ram

ftp://174.142.97.10/...al/G41M-VS3.pdf

however reading your manual PAGE 8

4. Please check the table below for the CPU FSB frequency and its

corresponding memory support frequency.

CPU FSB Frequency Memory Support Frequency

1333 DDR3 800, DDR3 1066, DDR3 1333

1066 DDR3 800, DDR3 1066

800 DDR3 800

533 DDR3 800

* DDR3 1333 memory modules will operate in overclocking mode.

* When you use a FSB533-CPU on this motherboard, it will run at

DDR3 533 if you adopt a DDR3 800 memory module.

* If you adopt FSB1333-CPU and DDR3 1333 memory module on this

motherboard, you need to adjust the jumper. Please refer to page 20 for

proper jumper settings.

as your CPU is 800mhz FSB the ram will only ever run at 800MHZ !!!! so thats final end of as PAGE 20 says

FSB1 Jumper

(FSB1, 3-pin jumper, see p.10 No. 26)

If you adopt FSB1333-CPU and DDR3 1333 memory module on this motherboard, you

need to adjust the jumper. Please short pin2, pin3 for FSB1 jumper. Otherwise, the

CPU and memory module may not work properly on this motherboard. Please refer to

below jumper setting.

END RESULT you want your ram to run 1333mhz then buy a new cpu thats 1333mhz FSB!

PS all research done in 5 mins just using google!

    • Halo Studios is teasing a big reveal for the series this October by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Halo Studios, formerly 343 Industries, is preparing to reveal what it has been working on since the release of Halo Infinite. Other than providing support for existing Halo works, like Master Chief Collection and Infinite, the Xbox first-party studio has been rather quiet about its next releases since 2021. In its monthly blog post on Halo Waypoint, the developer had a special section regarding its future plans and dropped a pretty heavy teaser about an October announcement. Just like at the 2024 Halo World Championship, this year, the studio is planning another special announcement for fans. "Over the past few weeks, there’s been a fair amount of speculation about when and where more details might emerge about any of the multiple projects Halo Studios is actively working on," says the studio. "We don’t usually comment on such matters, but this time we want to enter the chat and share a little more perspective for Halo fans who might be on the fence about whether to attend this year’s event." In October of last year, 343 Industries, the development team that has been making games in the series since Halo 4 in 2012, went through a major rebranding to become Halo Studios. While no exact details were given, alongside a teaser video, the studio said then that multiple projects were currently in development but are years away from being released. It also revealed last year that the Slipspace Engine it developed for Halo Infinite is also being left behind in favor of Unreal Engine 5. "Speculation is always fun, but if you want the official scoop on what Halo Studios has been working on, you won’t want to miss this year’s Halo World Championship," added the studio. "We really hope you’ll join us in Seattle this October!" The 2025 Halo World Championship is slated to take place on October 24 in Seattle. Halo will be turning 25 years old in 2026, and it's likely that a new game or a remaster project will be revealed during this event.
