Teamviewer Alternative

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a Teamviewer alternative. The version that have for Linux is simply crap.

I know there are many Remote Desktop applications, but none seem to be like Teamviewer. I don't want to do SSH or anything like that. If you know Teamviewer you know what I want.

Help?

try this

https://secure.logmein.com/UK/products/free/

or there is allways gotoassist express but its costly.

Besides the interface being messed up and not looking right. My issue is that there is no tray icon, it stays as a window/dock item. Which I don't like.

There is no Linux support for that?

The interface does indeed use windows widgets, which are a bit ugly :s

Regarding the tray, though, you can install alltray and modify the teamviewer launcher to something like this:

/usr/bin/alltray teamviewer

That'll give the app a tray icon, and it'll minimize to tray when you close the window (I think it also starts the app minimized to tray, but I'm not sure).

Mikogo is not free, just free trial. I guess I never stated I wanted it to be free.

And after a few days of running Teamviewer and testing it from my Android phone, it's ok. The interface I can get over. And my other issue with it was solved.

Thanks guys.

    • Can you get a brand new (not refurb) device like this, but with 2025 hardware, for $266? Under $300? No? If you can, it must have the worst specs otherwise (4gb ram, 1366x768 12in lcd screen, 256gb spinning hard drive, etc.). Please show me this sub-$300 2025 laptop that is better than what the article shows.

    • Honestly, i either don't care, mind, use, or had any problem with those. 11 is really good for me, has a lot of little refinements, looks great, if i wanted to tweak/fix it's behavior i would with a range of tools, and wouldn't come back to the 2010's looking Win 10 even at gunpoint.
