Major spamage. But seriously, what does it matter if you download the beta as long as you have every intention of buying the game once it eventually comes out. Finding a link with a good connection on the other hand should prove to be next to impossible.

Yeah I agree with you. It's still in murky territory, but it's like when I only download movies I know I will buy once they come out on DVD - it maybe in murky legal terms but they're still getting my money, so no biggie.

It's pretty much impossible for this to be compiled from the leaked sourcecode. The sourcecode didn't include any of the models, graphics, sounds, etc.. Thus, would make the game unplayable. It could be a beta of HL2 which was leaked.

Heck, looking at screenshots, and yes I know they are low res and the game is beta, but please spare me.. even DOOM3 Alpha looks better on GeForce2 or some stoneage card that supports OpenGL. And I am not talking about FPS as it's a different story. I am personally really disappointed in HL2. I was really looking forward to it, but not anymore. The game looks more like HL1 with a Havok engine.

And yes yes.. before you say anything.. it's beta, I know...

This version is obviously very unpolished. Remember, the doom 3 alpha that was leaked was made to be shown off to the public. Which means it was finalized to look good. This leaked HL2 build was never meant for release and is missing many things as well as is buggy. The released bink movies show how it will look in it's finished form, not this beta.

its only about 20 days old tho i think and they were supposed to be done on the 30th of sept, i doubt they will change much graphics wise

the shots were probably taken on a gf2 thats why they look so crap... im gonna give it a whirl, especially now theres rummors we might not see hl2 till 2004... also there will be community patches no doubt which fixes alot of glitches and bugs
