Half Life 2 Beta leaked?

Recommended Posts

Someone wouldn't go through all that trouble to only get the source code. I'm sure they probably would have gotten the rest of the files too.

Everyone ... cut all the BS about a leak not necessarily stolen. Its WAS stolen. My heart goes out the programmers invovled. Imagine working 5 years of your life and then having it all stolen and not made any money from it.

I'm sure if someone stole your $2000+ computer or car which you'd spent months earning you'd be complaining to everyone. This is the same thing. Its STEALING. I hope the idiot(s) who stole the source 1) get the FBI after them; 2) get to spend a long time in jail and being someone else's b*****. They deserve it.

And if you actually have the source and the leaked demo why brag about having it? Its no better than being the stolen goods dealer trying to sell your stolen computer.

Just my 2 cents.

   Your right on with that I know if I worked 5 years on something and someone stole it I'd like to find in a DARK ally some night

Neowin poll some time ago...

2003 belongs to

Doom III 653

Half-Life 2 1574

Hahaha... Source code surely belongs to 2003.. :D

Heck, looking at screenshots, and yes I know they are low res and the game is beta, but please spare me.. even DOOM3 Alpha looks better on GeForce2 or some stoneage card that supports OpenGL. And I am not talking about FPS as it's a different story. I am personally really disappointed in HL2. I was really looking forward to it, but not anymore. The game looks more like HL1 with a Havok engine.

And yes yes.. before you say anything.. it's beta, I know...

See, it's people like you that make Valve worried about this leak. First off, its a beta. Second off, its a beta. Third off, its a beta. Have you actually seen any of the preview videos showing people falling down stairs incredibly realistically or showing a matress slowly slide over a ledge or a number of other amazing things (not to mention the best AI in a game, well, since Half Life 1).

Are you having fun? :)

I think that those pics would look a lot better if you used 4xAA & 8xAF have you tried yet?

Does it support AA & AF?

this isn't even a beta though it just the hackers or whoever trying to comile the textures they stole ugly as hell the guy with no face and stuff..yuck

True, its all looking far to crappy for my books. Im waiting for this .. aint even sniffing at the beta, I feel that it will spoil the exsperiance when HL2 comes out. Might just be me though !

Well I think those screenshots further prove that this is not a proper beta.. more like the compiled source, with textures from other sources.

I dunno.. i'm seriously sceptical. VALVe have shown us infinately better stuff than this already.. VALVe were demo'ing a nearly complete (but beta) version of Half Life 2, and it looked awesome.. these shots of a supposed beta are pretty bad imho. It might well be a very very early beta, or just a hastily assembled cludge of poor textures and basic engine parts.

    • Funny, but I didn't had the issue. All PC's at work are Dell and we had the culprit version of Support Assist for about 2 weeks until we got the new one. No problem at all. And for checking you can also use Dell Command Update, no need to search in windows settings. Just check the Upgrade History.
    • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • Apple are scared of their customers! They have built a brand over the years of "it just works out of the box", but that slows innovation. Samsung's master stroke was the Galaxy Ultra: "Let's cram everything into one handset, make it so stupid only real nerds will love it, some of the features will work, some won't, but the audience will have such a high tolerance they won't care". Apple has no such device and so they are constantly worrying these days about the fallout of creating a new experience that customers might not like. I know it is often cited the reason they don't build a touchscreen Mac Book is they don't want to cannibalise the the iPad market, but I think it's equally cold feet after the criticism Microsoft receive trying to make a touch compatible desktop OS

    • So, an article that has nothing to do with Windows 11, still gets Windows 11 in the title and a build number as the picture? Dell have a buggy build of Support Assist HP have UEFI settings that need unlocking for the secureboot cert upgrade to take place.
