Half Life 2 Beta leaked?

Recommended Posts

does it have that gun that was all in the E3 videos that can pick stuff up and throw it?

and does it go full screen and does it just run openGL? and one last thing how do you show FPS?

yes. yes. runs both. don't know how to show fps.

cl_showfps 1 (or 2)

Im get around 50 fps, and the graphics are sweet, the physics are amazing, I am definately getting this game

A great level to play with physics is e3_techdemo_2 the gun in the 5 slot you can pick up things and weld things together. right click to shoot the bubble things and move 2 bubbles together and it welds them. great fun

So to those who have been playing the beta, are the statements made by the leaker true? That the events Valve portrayed in the E3 demo were all scripted?? If this is true, then this quickly will move down my most wanted list.

Pretty underhanded of Valve and Gabe to pull off this $hit. Yeah, it sucks that this is happening to them but any pity that I have will quickly fade away if this turns out to be true.

this is obviously not the status of the game 4 days ago.....i believe the reason why it says build -4 - days till 9/30/03 is becuase it is build #4.........and they didnt put in the number of days. there are tons of things missing, including a ton of objects included in the e3 demo. there are no bug bait balls and the maps which were done for e3 havent even been started on yet.

Performance is pretty surprising, I ran at 1280 x 1024 32bit with AA on 6X and AF on 16X, everything on Very high and it ran fine, 40-50fps :| dropping AF down to 8X bumped the FPS up again so props to Valve for the engine.

Why are you posting screenshots, don't you think valve will get the fbi or anyother company to make you bring them down ?

It's just a bunch of 0s and 1s ;)

But seriously - it's not like he's posting a link to download it. They are just images. They feed the HL2 hunger.

Whoa.. ok.. so what changed? All the beta shots posted before looked pretty bad, but Dazzla's look way more like the ones Valve have been showing us. Have there been different betas posted?

edit...

Hm.. just read back a few pages and there do seem to be some pretty good pictures actually. I said to myself I wouldn't get this beta, and i'm gonna stand by it. Gonna be really tough though! :(

hrmm, Dazzla, when I accessed the map in your second picture, I don't get that dude standing up there. also, in that map, I have ERROR at where those special effects panels are suppose to be.

Chicane-UK: that's what it's suppose to look like. previously, people have been posting pics, but there systems are not exactly the best to run the game. I believe Dazzla has a Radeon 9700 Pro. Which, from my brief testing using Cat 3.8, has some performance gain in DX9 applications. Of course, it's all relative and subjective.

Those shots are quite nice, and i can live with 40-50fps :) you can still use i guess 1024x768 and get a little more fps.

    • Started implementing weapons! Here's a little sneak peek! 👀 Animation was done inside of Unreal Engine using Control Rig! Really useful tool, I don't have to go back and forth between Blender and UE, you can basically make tweaks while the game is running.
    • Keep in mind Intuit has lobbied like crazy to keep taxes complicated so they can continue to sell tax software. They also got caught hiding their legally mandated free version so they could release a second one that pushed countless people into charges they didn't need to pay to file. Intuit leads the charge on inventing problems so they can sell you the solution and disrespecting you in the process.
