Half Life 2 Beta leaked?

Been playing around with this since yesterday and I have to say the physics are amazing... can't stop experimenting with it :) Still, some ppl on irc hype this beta too much.. it's still _very_ unfinished... no storyline or anything, just empty maps to play around with... so to those who are tempted to load this, you're not missing anything groundbreaking... but the game is worth waiting for :)

Sure there are scripted events, but imho, that's not a big deal... it will be a great game when it's finished and I'll definitely buy it.

I agree with Icarus. This games physics are jaw dropping. I cant stop playng around withit. Def cant wait for this one!

me and my friend found out how to play it multiplayer over the Internet! :D

the only problem is that when u die you go into a blackbox and you cant come out. Lol

and gordon doesnt have a model :ninja: .

this is obviously not the status of the game 4 days ago.....i believe the reason why it says build -4 - days till 9/30/03 is becuase it is build #4.........and they didnt put in the number of days.  there are tons of things missing, including a ton of objects included in the e3 demo.  there are no bug bait balls and the maps which were done for e3 havent even been started on yet.

actually there are bugbait balls....but u can only get em if u kil that big ass monster. whatever its called.

but yea this looks like its in a earlier state than the e3 demo!...i stil gota say that the AI is SWEET!

cant wait til the ful game is out! :D

definately gona buy this one!

New user at Neowin, and my opinion on the subject. Yes, I admit the reason I registered was from all the HL2 publicity. :ninja: I also admit I downloaded a few RARs of the beta, to see if it was really true and not just another game or gigs of porn. Once confirmed I had no reason to keep them on my HD any more. Besides, on 56k there's not too much I can download very quickly. :rofl: Screenshots posted here look awesome, I can't wait to play the full game!

Re: the alledged hacker threatning to release 'everything'. I think this is just some idiot trying to stir things up. The internet is full of those kinds of people, who think they're safe behind the internet wall of anonymity.

anyone try out the new "hl1 ports" file "anon" has put out? Im skeptical as to what it is, besides straight ports?

EDIT: ooooh adds a tf2 folder, this could be dangerous. BUT now my hl2.exe just opens and blinks then closes. DAMMIT

I think its there for people who have halflife and buy hl2 and when they go to install hl2 it copies the original hl1 and its mods to the hl2 folder kinda like what steam did, i guess so its all in one, kinda nice I think. I wasnt able to get any of em to run but looks like its just a modified hl2.exe and the hl cstrike and the other mod folders.

The big red 'error' is the placeholder art the game puts in place of missing models. Unless this so called patch adds a significant amount of stuff, i'm convinced this is a pre-E3 build. There are weapons missing, a ton of art missing (from the E3 maps mind you) and some E3 maps aren't even present like tunnels and strider. And quite a few maps give error messages indicating they are old versions.
