OK here's the problem. Ever since updating to the newest version of ATI's drivers the Over drive has stopped working properly. During 2D applications the 2D clocks go to 300/157 which is normal but I am having this happen with 3D applications (games like SWTOR, WoW, Battlefield 3) and it causes the driver to stop responding.

Here's what I've done to try and resolve the problem.

1. RMA'd both cards - Same issue with new cards

2. Reinstalled Windows and the previous version of ATI's driver I had no problem with - Didn't work

3. Updated to newest driver again - Didn't work

4. Disabled over drive - Didn't work

5. Edited a custom profile to force 2D clocks to not drop below a certain threshold - Didn't work, actually caused more problems.

6. Tried each card by itself - Same issue (Thanks Muhammad Farrukh for reminding me, I did try that)

Computer Setup

-----------------

Intel i7 920

Asus P6T Deluxe v2

2 x ATI HD 5770 (12.1)

Intel x25 80GB SSD

Any other suggestions that may help resolve the problem would be greatly appriciated. I am about to take both of these cards and run over them with my car.

Thanks,

Mike

UPDATE: Used Driver Sweeper to clear old driver and installed 12.2 with no resolve. Still receiving the driver has stopped responding issue.

UPDATE 2: Been doing some research and it looks like Crossfire may not be working properly. It's enabled but GPU-Z says it's not (see screenshot). Is this normal or is it indeed broken?

Send them over to me :p

Could it be that one of them is causing the problem?

Have you tried to use one at a time?

The problem persists?

Yup I did lol. Fixed my post. It seems to be a common problem with the series but I've had these cards two years and it JUST happened with the latest drivers.

seems like we have nearly the same computer haha - ive had zero issues w/ the drivers and cards. just installed 12.2 yesterday (shows up as 12.3 in the driver console) and they work well for me.

Yes we do! I even disabled my OC on the proc as I had mine running stable at 3.8 as well. I need to get that configured again once I find the book where I wrote down the configuration changes I had made to get it stable.

i guess im having trouble understanding what exactly is happening when you are gaming

have you tried the 12.2 drivers yet?

as for overclocking the 920 - i did a quick google search and found a forum about overclocking the 920. this particular forum even had our same motherboard and every setting to change.

I have not tried 12.2 yet as I didn't realize they were just released this week. I will be trying these when I get home tonight.

To sum up the problem, when ever I play a game I have the driver crash. When I sheck the event log it reason for the crash was that the driver stopped responding. After Googling the problem, I believe I am suffering from a similar issue that seems common with this series of cards where the 2D clocks down clock to lows settings and that causes the driver to crash. Thing is, it really shouldn't be happening in a 3D application like a game.

this is a shot in the dark, but is there any way to attempt a BIOS update for the 2 cards?

I have looked. Both cards I have are from Diamond and I can not find a utility to do so.

Mate`s single 5770 did this yesterday, tho he said it hadd updated itself. Cleanedd the old drivers off and then put the 12.1`s on. Didnt know there was a 12.2. Either way solved his problems. Maybe a faulty driver.

This begun happening to me with 12.1. I just had the driver crash again. Current configuration is single card.

Error from Event Viewer is "Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

If I had the money I would be headed to a local PC shop today to buy a new Nvidia card.

Not only have I not been able to resolve this, Diamond refuses to respond or even view the ticket I have opened with them. Needless to day, next time I am in search of a video card, it will NOT be a Diamond Multimedia product.

    • Microsoft's fast coding model MAI-Code-1-Flash comes to Copilot Business and Enterprise by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft’s recently announced MAI-Code-1-Flash model is now generally available to GitHub Copilot Business and Copilot Enterprise customers. With this support, organizations can have more centralized policy controls and billing while finally being able to use Microsoft’s lightweight, first-party coding model. According to GitHub’s announcement, Business and Enterprise plan administrators must enable the MAI-Code-1-Flash policy in Copilot settings before developers can access the model. Microsoft says that MAI-Code-1-Flash is for fast, iterative coding work rather than the most demanding architectural or debugging tasks. GitHub’s official model comparison page says that the model is great for "general-purpose coding and writing," while it excels at fast, accurate code completions and explanations Microsoft introduced MAI-Code-1-Flash on June 2 as part of a broader collection of internally developed MAI models. GitHub subsequently expanded support to Copilot CLI, the Copilot cloud agent, GitHub.com chat, GitHub Mobile, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Eclipse, and Xcode, but said support for managed Business and Enterprise customers was still on the way. In Microsoft’s own benchmark testing, MAI-Code-1-Flash scored 51.2% on SWE-Bench Pro, compared with 35.2% for Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 4.5. Microsoft also claimed that the model used up to 60% fewer tokens on SWE-Bench Verified. Do note that these are vendor-run results rather than independent measurements. The model is billed at provider list pricing under GitHub’s usage-based system. GitHub currently lists MAI-Code-1-Flash at $0.75 per million input tokens, $0.075 per million cached input tokens, and $4.50 per million output tokens. For organizations, the main incentive to use MAI-Code-1-Flash is likely to be efficiency rather than maximum capability. A smaller model that responds quickly and limits unnecessary output is quite useful for repetitive agent tasks at scale, especially after GitHub Copilot’s move toward usage-based billing. The "Flash" model is recommended for fast work and not necessarily for huge repositories with loads of context. It's better if teams compare their output with other larger models, especially if they're working on security-sensitive changes and complex, multi-file work.
    • yes AND no the "original" or plain/normal Optiplex 7010 won't be getting any more new firmware updates BUT the Optiplex SFF/SFF Plus {small form factor}, Micro/Micro Plus & Tower/Tower Plus 7010 editions DO get new updates such as this new one   and here are similar guides from the Dell web site for Dell systems: https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000390990/secure-boot-transition-faq https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000347876/microsoft-2011-secure-boot-certificate-expiration
