Mail.Ru Toolbar

Somehow my Daughter managed to install the mail.ru toolbar which in turn has reset her start pages in IE and FF. I used Iobit uninstaller to remove it and all references to it, however it still seems to be installed. There does not seem to be any trace of it anywhere on the HDD! Any one else have this issue or know how to fix it?

Back up her docs, It would probably be quicker to reinstall.

http://www.exterminate-it.com/malpedia/remove-iebar <it looks like it is also known as iebar. look at the manual removal process this should help you find and remove.

sounds like one of those that might be detected under malwarebytes

worth a try, it's worked for me in the past for malicious toolbars

I had thought about running MWB, but I decided it was easier to reinstall the system, since it has a recovery partition.
