This show goes further down hill the further they get away from the books, imo.

The bits that follow the books are engaging, the bits that don't seem rushed and tacked on. Also, as some characters sometimes follow the plot lines of the book, and sometimes they have new stuff added in, they seem to have split personality syndrome.

An example of this is Eric with his "**** Sookie" line and following actions with his sister (which is also nowhere in the books and has just been needlessly done for shock value).

just making sure you realize this but that character isn't actually Eric's sister...but his "sister" ie: they were both turned by the same person...they were never actually blood related so i don't really see how there's any shock value to it....(looking around the internet it seems most people seem to have missed this fact)

I'm learning a lot of people don't pay attention to **** nowadays.

That's a moot point.

They've added this character to the TV show, she isn't in the books, and is still his vampire sister. It's done to shock the audience and to belatedly highlight differences between humans and vampires.

That being said, the introduction of this character really makes no sense. Eric loves Sookie, and is deeply obsessed with her all the way through the books, and the same has been hinted at in the series. To just abandon that with "**** sookie" and then sex in a container pretty much destroys the character.

The whole thing with Jesus and La Fayette from last season has no relation to the books and that was also clearly the worst storyline of the season - they should just to what's in the books as that is gold. Everything the make up themselves stands out like a sore thumb and ends up mangling the characters.

This season is pretty rubbish for me. They're abandoning the books apart from the Sookie / Alcide storyline (but they've even mangled that somewhat) and as such, none of the characters feel remotely like the ones from the previous seasons.

Did they change writers in between season?

It's on the verge of jumping the shark.

Well they have quite a few storylines to use from the books yet, if they want to. There are 12 books, but in the 5 seasons they've only really made use of 4 of the book storylines - although they've cancelled several out by killing off important characters already.

This season they've departed completely from the books and it's hurting the characters as a result (some of them have really had almost a schizophrenic character change between last season and this).

They've already been renewed for next season, so it's gonna be at least 2 more after this, I would imagine.

especially considering that we've only had like a couple nights after the season 4 finale? lol

    • Apple CEO Tim Cook confirms looming price hikes due to memory shortages by Hamid Ganji Image via Apple Memory and chip shortages have led to significant price increases for electronics over the past year, and it seems that more hikes are on the way for upcoming smartphones and computers. Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the company is planning to increase the prices of some of its products due to the ongoing memory and storage shortages. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Cook confirmed the looming price hikes for Apple’s future products, adding that “Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable.” He also said the company is doing its best to “mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we’ve been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable.” The Apple CEO also noted that the allocation of a large portion of memory chips to AI companies has contributed to shortages in the market, resulting in lower supply at a time when demand for devices remains high. “We definitely need memory pricing and supply to return to reasonable levels for consumer products. That’s the bottom line,” Cook said. Cook also added that Apple is ready to use its vast cash reserves to help boost supply in the market because additional production capacity is needed. While he declined to specify how Apple plans to do that, he said the company will not build its own memory and storage factories despite its financial resources and silicon expertise. Cook did not provide further details on the scale of the price increases or which Apple products would be affected, though iPads and Macs could see higher prices sooner than other products. Apple’s next product launch event is scheduled for September, when the company is expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone. It remains unclear whether the upcoming iPhones will be affected by the price increases, but given the current memory shortage, higher prices seem increasingly likely. There is currently no clear timeline for the end of the memory shortage. Samsung, one of the world’s three largest memory chip manufacturers, recently said the shortage could persist for several more years.

    • +1000 to this, don't understand why they added that margin around the top bar, even the close button is a PITA to click without aiming. Ofc, this is just preview and hopefully they will revert such odd UX decision before hitting final version.
