Sin City 2 Shoots This Summer

Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller announce A Dame To Kill For.

The Sin City sequel is now official, with Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller announcing today that the film will begin production this summer in Austin. The title will be Frank Miller's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.

According to a press release, "the script and details of the film's story have been kept tightly under wraps. Casting will begin next week, with many of the original cast expected to return." The film was "developed by Frank Miller based upon his graphic novel, with a screenplay by Frank Miller and Academy Award winner William Monahan (The Departed)."

Rodriguez had predicted a summer start recently at SXSW.

SIN CITY 2 Begins Shooting, Adds Jaime King and Jamie Chung; Major Casting Still to Come

Heat Vision reports King will be returning to the Sin City sequel to play Wendy, the twin sister to the angelic prostitute, Goldie. Mickey Rourke is expected to return as Marv (spoiler: even though Marv was dispatched by electrocution in the first film), since the movie takes place both before and after the events of the original. Also returning in reprisals are Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson. Aoki will not be returning as deadly little Miho, the katana-wielding assassin, but Chung will step into her shoes rollerblades. The character plays a crucial role in helping Dwight pinpoint the backstabbing Ava.

Here?s where it gets interesting. Clive Owen, who portrayed Dwight the first time around, is reportedly returning to the sequel, but may not play Dwight throughout the entire film. The character is understood to have undergone facial reconstructive surgery to change his appearance. So, the search is on for another top-tier talent to play the new Dwight. Also yet to be cast is someone for Ava?s role, one originally written for Angelina Jolie. Another unfilled role is that of Johnny, a smooth-talking gambler that was newly created for this film. Looks like there?ll be no rest for Rodriguez, who just barely finished wrapping on Machete Kills before hopping onto the Sin City sequel.

Exclusive: Dennis Haysbert on Tackling Manute for Sin City Sequel

ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype spoke with Haysbert earlier today for Sheldon Candis's indie drama Luv in which Haysbert plays a Baltimore crime boss, and we noted that he had shaved his head and bulked up a bit, which prompted us to ask Haysbert about taking on the Sin City role. "I haven't finished working out to the capacity that I need to, but he's going to be different. This is playing as a prequel, so it should work out," he told us.

When we asked whether he went back to watch what Duncan had done in the earlier film, he replied, "It's going to be my character, but I've spoken extensively with Frank Miller and Robert (Rodriguez) about what they want with the character and yes, it has to have some feel of what Michael did but I have to make it my own."

Haysbert also talked about the process on set, working with the two directors:

"Robert sets up the camera and he does a lot of the hands-on directing but Frank is very astute and very good at watching from a distance and just coming in and popping in a few things in your ear that really solidifies it. Because he comes from that comic book approach and everything is storyboarded so you have a clear idea as to what you want to do and what he wants. It's a very cool process."

Deadline has broken the news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed up to star in Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, the Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller helmed adaptation of the latter's graphic novels. He will reportedly take on the role of 'Johnny', a part which was at one point offered to Johnny Depp. Gangster Squad star Josh Brolin is also said to be one of several actors that the studio are courting for "tough guy" roles in the sequel. Unfortunately, the site goes on to reveal that the talks between Levitt and Marvel Studios have ended and he will NOT take on the role of 'Star-Lord' in Guardians of the Galaxy. They are now "evaluating" their other candidates

Dimension Films announced today that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (LOOPER, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES) is joining the all-star cast as one of the lead characters in the highly anticipated SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. The film is the follow up to co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller?s 2005 visually groundbreaking film, FRANK MILLER?S SIN CITY. Other major casting announcements will continue to follow.

Gordon-Levitt will play ?Johnny,? a cocky gambler who disguises a darker mission to destroy his most foul enemy at his best game.

?Johnny is a new character in the Sin City world and we are excited for what Joseph will bring to the role,? said Rodriguez and Miller.

Gordon-Levitt most recently wrote, directed and stars in DON JON?S ADDICTION which will premiere this month at Sundance and also stars Scarlett Johansson and Julianne Moore.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR weaves together two of Miller?s classic stories with new tales in which the town?s most hard boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more repulsive inhabitants.

The ensemble includes already announced original cast members Academy Award? nominee Mickey Rourke as ?Marv,? Jessica Alba as ?Nancy,? Rosario Dawson as ?Gail,? and Jaime King as ?Goldie/Wendy? with new cast members Dennis Haysbert as ?Manute,? and Jamie Chung as ?Miho?. Production is underway at Rodriguez?s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

The original SIN CITY broke new ground with its iconic stylish look. SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR will not only bring fans back to the world that Miller and Rodriguez created, but also add a new dimension by bringing their unique visual style to life in 3D.

SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR was developed by Frank Miller based upon his graphic novel, with a screenplay by Miller and Academy Award? winner William Monahan (The Departed).

The film will be released by Dimension Films in the US and Canada on October 4, 2013 and is produced by Robert Rodriguez?s Quick Draw Productions, Aldamisa, AR Films, Miramax and Solipsist.

ACADEMY AWARD? NOMINEE JOSH BROLIN ADDED TO ALL STAR ENSEMBLE AS ?DWIGHT? IN CO-DIRECTORS ROBERT RODRIGUEZ AND FRANK MILLER?S SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR

New York, NY January 8, 2013 ? Today Dimension Films announced another big name that has been added to the SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR cast roster, further ramping up the ensemble ? Academy Award? nominee Josh Brolin (GANGSTER SQUAD, MILK). Brolin will star as ?Dwight? in the follow up to FRANK MlLLER?S SIN CITY for co-directors Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller. The part of the ?Dame? has yet to be cast.

Dwight is one of the favorite characters from Miller?s books and the 2005 film. In SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to ?The Big Fat Kill? (featured in the film FRANK MILLER?S SIN CITY) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.

?Dwight is a constant character throughout the Sin City world and ?A Dame To Kill For? is a defining episode in his life. We?re looking forward to Josh?s take on Dwight,? said Rodriguez and Miller.

Brolin will next be seen alongside Sean Penn in the Warner Bros. 1940?s police drama Gangster Squad set for release January 11, 2013. Brolin recently completed production on the Jason Reitman-directed film Labor Day opposite Kate Winslet, in addition to Spike Lee?s Oldboy, a remake of the popular Korean film. Brolin last appeared as young ?Agent K? in Men in Black 3, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and co-starring Will Smith and Emma Thompson. In 2008, Brolin was nominated for an Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and received awards from the New York Film Critics Circle and the National Board of Review for his portrayal of ?Dan White? in Gus Van Sant?s acclaimed film Milk. Prior to that, Brolin earned a Screen Actors Guild Award as part of an ensemble for his work in Joel and Ethan Coen?s No Country for Old Men, which also won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.

    • Rufus 4.15.2393 Beta 2 by Razvan Serea Rufus is a small utility that helps format and create bootable USB flash drives, such as USB keys/pendrives, memory sticks, etc. Despite its small size, Rufus provides everything you need! Oh, and Rufus is fast. For instance it's about twice as fast as UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer or Windows 7 USB download tool, on the creation of a Windows 7 USB installation drive from an ISO (with honorable mention to WiNToBootic for managing to keep up). It is also marginally faster on the creation of Linux bootable USBs from ISOs. A non-exhaustive list of Rufus supported ISOs is available here. It can be especially useful for cases where: you need to create USB installation media from bootable ISOs (Windows, Linux, UEFI, etc.) you need to work on a system that doesn't have an OS installed you need to flash a BIOS or other firmware from DOS you want to run a low-level utility Rufus 4.15.2393 Beta 2 changelog: Add RISC-V 64 support to UEFI:NTFS Improve the guards for using the "silent" option Improve the ability to cancel during write retries Improve progress reporting for compressed image extraction Fix unrestricted XML entity expansion and integer overflow in ezxml parser (courtesy of @esadowski4) [GHSA-55r2-34wg-8mv9] Fix "silent" Windows installation failing at 75% in most cases [#2960] Fix a crash during boot when using UEFI:NTFS on Snapdragon X based ARM64 platforms [#2934] Fix the first WUE option always being checked by default [#2965] Fix an infinite loop when using Windows ISOs that contain multiple WIMs Fix "Enable runtime UEFI media validation" checkbox not always being properly enabled Other WUE improvements/fixes for OneDrive removal and username validation (with thanks to @christian8641) [#2984, #2991] Download: Rufus 4.15 Beta 2 | 1.9 MB (Open Source) Links: Rufus Home Page | Project Page @GitHub | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
    • Tixati 3.43 by Razvan Serea Tixati is a free and easy to use BitTorrent client featuring detailed views of all seed, peer, and file transfer properties. Also included are powerful bandwidth charting and throttling capabilities, and a full DHT implementation. Tixati is one of the most advanced and flexible BitTorrent clients available. And unlike many other clients, Tixati contains NO SPYWARE, NO ADS, and NO GIMMICKS. Tixati portable version is meant to run on a USB flash drive or other portable media. It stores all its configuration files in the same folder as the executable binary files, and all file paths are stored in a format relative to the program executable folder. It is important you do not delete the "tixati_portable_mode.txt" file within the executables folder. This file is what triggers Tixati to run in portable mode. (The executable binaries are actually the same as the standard edition binaries.) When running the portable edition from a USB flash drive, especially one that is formatted in FAT16/FAT32, you may experience some lag when initially loading a new transfer. This is because initializing and allocating large files on flash-based media consumes a greater amount of time and resources compared to a conventional hard-drive. Tixati has the following features: detailed views of all aspects of the swarm, including peers, pieces, files, and trackers support for magnet links, so no need to download .torrent files if a simple magnet-link is available super-efficient peer choking/unchoking algorithms ensure the fastest downloads peer connection encryption for added security full DHT (Distributed Hash Table) implementation for trackerless torrents, including detailed message traffic graphs and customizable event logging advanced bandwidth charting of overall traffic and per-transfer traffic, with separate classification of protocol and file bytes, and with separate classification of outbound traffic for trading and seeding highly flexible bandwidth throttling, including trading/seeding proportion adjustment and adjustable priority for individual transfers and peers bitfield graphs that show the completeness of all downloaded files, what pieces other peers have available, and the health of the overall swarm customizable event logging for each download, and individual event logs for all peers within the swarm expert local file management functions which allow you to move files to a different partition even while downloading is still in progress 100% compatible with the BitTorrent protocol Windows and Linux-GTK native versions available Tixati 3.43 changelog: Several major DHT improvements Added several screening heuristics to filter malicious DHT nodes, prevent Sybil floods Rewrote DHT search algorithms to add support for multi-path lookups Improved DHT logging, more details in several error • Zed 1.7.2 has landed with updated OpenCode models, bug fixes and other improvements by David Uzondu Zed 1.7.2 recently landed on the stable release channel, bringing a host of AI-related features including automatic context compaction and settings-based skill management, along with other things like better Markdown preview rendering and custom git commands in the graph view. Starting with the AI stuff, the developers introduced "/compact", a command that basically summarizes your conversation history on demand. This tool prevents your active chat window from hitting token limits by compressing older parts of the dialogue into a brief overview. In addition to that, the team relocated skill management to the settings UI, improving how the application communicates errors regarding those skills, and updated the OpenCode model roster to support DeepSeek V4 Flash, MiniMax M3, Qwen 3.7 Plus, and Nemotron 3 Ultra Free. External agent users can also monitor context window cost metrics and delete individual sessions directly from their history. Right-clicking ref labels in the git graph now opens a context menu that runs different actions against selected targets, kind of how VS Code does it. Here are some of the bug fixes this new release brings: The active agent fails to auto-select when creating a new git worktree. A scrollbar unexpectedly appears on wrapped code blocks in the agent chat. Collapse indicators for project headers appear when performing sidebar searches. Bracketed ellipsis title prefixes fail to show the ellipsis icon properly. Project icons render incorrectly in the recent projects picker. Diff hunk controls appear inside non-editable commit view multibuffers. The software update button hangs indefinitely on the downloading stage. Restoring an agent terminal in a remote project triggers a sudden crash. Splitting a pane that contains an active commit view causes a crash. Linux Wayland freezes when trying to read the clipboard from laggy external apps. Zed is a "newish" code editor trying to break the massive stronghold VS Code has on the developer community. Funny enough, the editor was created by former GitHub employees who worked on the Atom text editor (which Microsoft killed in 2022, several years after it bought GitHub). The project officially hit version 1.0 back in April, introducing platform parity for Windows and Linux alongside deep support for DeepSeek-V4-Pro.
