Okay. Oh, I?ve got these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic book; a brother-sister act. They?re in the movie. That?s exciting.? You know, you lock certain things in.

The only "brother-sister act" that makes sense would be Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, both members of the Avengers but also of the Ultimate Avengers which the films seem drawn from.

For those unfamiliar;

Quicksilver is similar to DC's Flash

Scarlet Witch can manipulate probability, and at times has changed the entire Marvel universe - even drpowering the mutants.

Their daddy is Magneto.

That's alright but Marvel don't fully own Xmen franchise so that might be difficult because eventually you would think they will want to add them to the First Class series

saw the movie yesterday. the movie was very underwhelming. Trailers hint at a engrossing story but ends being bit of bait and switch :/

Just saw the movie. I thought it wasn't that bad of a movie. It had some great action scenes, some nifty dialogue between the characters, and an overall good feel watching what had digressed from the events of the Avengers. What I didn't like too much was the some discrepancies with the plot in which sort of made the feeling moot. This wasn't the strongest of the Iron Man Movies, but I still rate it as a great flick to see.

I saw it last night, and I liked it. I don't think i like it as much as the previous two, but it was still a great action movie. There were two things in particular that I didn't like about the movie.

1. I didn't like how they handled The Mandarin. I think the look and persona of Ben Kingsley's Mandarin was awesome, and absolutely the right adaptation of the character. But then they revealed that he was just a figure-head, actor which was an extreme let down. I was almost literally drooling to see Tony and Kingsley's Mandarin duke it out in the finale, but all we got was the lame Killian Mandarin.

2. While the comedy in the Iron Man movies is and has been great, I feel like this third movie had too much of it. Or at least, had it in the wrong places. At several points, including a few during the final battle, Tony would say something or have a one-liner that just kind of killed some of the drama and urgency of the scene. It felt a little out of place. Maybe I'll feel different after watching it again, I don't know.

At some point they called the vice president to warn him that the president was in danger. Then they show his daughter with a leg missing, so you can assume he was in on it with the Mandarin

I hated this one. Felt this was the worst of the three. The villain was horrible, the most jokes didn't fit well in the scenes, it was lacking that superhero feel and it just didn't seem like it could lead into any future movie. I hope this isn't a show of what is left for Marvel.

There will probably be one more Iron Man movie in between Avengers 2 and 3. Josh stated in an interview that Thanos was too powerful to be in the next avengers and he would be the ultimate finale (avengers 3). Stark/Iron Man is the corner stone of this version of the Avengers so it is highly doubtful they will not have an IM movie between Avengers 2 and 3.

I pretty much exactly agree with spacer. Just wrote this on Facebook for someone asking what I thought...

So I am still not fully committed to this opinion, need a bit more time for it to fully sink in, but I believe this was my least favorite of the trilogy. Just seemed ever so slightly off. Perhaps to much comedy? Perhaps it was a pretty thin plot? Perhaps it was how it was told? Perhaps it is all of those things combined. Just know I did not leave the theater loving it, or even really liking it for that matter. It may grow on me, this sometimes happens, but for now I am saying it is the weakest movie of the trilogy.

I feel exactly the same thing.

I did not like how they interpreted The Mandarin tbh. It's just not right. I mean they didn't even mention the all powerful 10 Rings. The Mandarin is a huge foe for Iron Man in the Marvel universe. With them saying he's just a face.. that's like oh this Character really isn't important.The next thing that annoyed me was Iron Patriot wasn't really used for fighting. I still never saw Rodey suit up and fight along side Tony like in IM2. At least that's what I was expecting from the movie, because in IM2, it was pretty cool.

I kind of enjoyed it but I feel it is the weakest of the three movies :/

- Mandarin was wasted - all the trailers built up to him and then the reveal was terrible

- I didn't like how the movie was Stark telling his story to someone that didn't make sense because I didn't wait for the post-credits scene :/

- I am not familiar with Iron Man comics but him removing shrapnel in the end kind of ruins the whole Palladium part in IM2. I mean he could've just had it removed instead of building an entirely new material! (similar to the whole eagles mess in LOTR).

- That part with the kid was such a waste of time. :/ I am pretty sure it was to please the bean counters.

- Some weird product placements - Sun/Oracle and then FiOS in Tennessee - is it even available there?

I was surprised that the Mandarin turned out to be a persona but I don't think we should rule him out completely. I think it's possible that Ben Kingsley's character might return or we'll see the true Mandarin in the next Iron Man movie. It's also possible for Aldrich Killian to return as the Mandarin with new powers. After all, he survived the explosion of Tony's Mark 42 suit only to be taken out with a weaker explosion. Some people may not realize this but what this movie has done is establish the Mandarin's persona. Aldrich Killian may have claimed to be the Mandarin but we know that the title belongs to someone wielding 10 powerful rings. It could be him, again, with rings or it could be Ben's character tricking Tony (remember the line "you'll never see me coming").

I can understand why people are disappointed because of what we were lead to believe. The trailers and marketing did a great job at portraying Ben Kingsley's character as the Mandarin but we find out that he was simply an actor in the movie. I was disappointed too, at first, but I began to realize why Marvel did this. They couldn't jump straight into Iron Man fighting against the real Mandarin. It's too early for that. And they needed to portray Tony Stark as a regular human being (emotionally, not intellectually because he's far from normal in that aspect). He needed to fix his relationship with Pepper and move beyond the events of New York (in The Avengers). Now, he won't suffer from any more anxiety attacks and he's closer to Pepper.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised to see the real Mandarin in Iron Man 4 or Iron Man 5. I also wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Mandarin will never return. It's entirely possible that the comic book version of the Mandarin was split into two characters: Ben's character and Aldrich Killian (minus the power rings). Killian represents the Mandarin's character with his thirst for power and hatred of Iron Man. And Ben's character represents the Mandarin's appearance and persona. Perhaps that's what Marvel truly wants and let's face it... the comic book version of the Mandarin is a little too stereotypical. I don't think a ring-wielding oriental man would've worked well in a live action movie.

They didn't show any rings in the movie because that would have made the Mandarin overpowered. However, they overcompensated by making the Extremis bad guys a little too powerful. Killian was able to slice and dice Tony's suits. And the suits use the same material as the one that Thor hit with his hammer multiple times.

Overall, I liked the movie and I consider it to be better than the second one but not as good as the first.

EDIT: Turns out it made $175.3 million over the weekend in North America alone. It's not as much as The Avengers ($207.4M) but it's more than The Dark Knight Rises ($160.9) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 ($169.2M).
