Iron Man 3 (Official Thread)

Recommended Posts

I watched the movie this weekend and I found it to be really entertaining even if it was doubled in Spanish and lost much of the genuine fun. sure it's not the best story of the franchise but it covered it up with more action and jokes which I like in a time where everything needs to be dark of Nolan-ish to be good.

for chat Anaron said, I think the same thing :

Maybe the mandarin was just faking to avoid any responsibility about what happened or the fact of being caought will create the real comic book Mandarin or maybe there is a Mandarin in the dark, but given that he's too powerful with the rings, they decided to not introduce it in IM and leave it to The Avengers 2 as Thanos won't be in it and this was just an introduction.

About the last paragraph, I'm quite sure that the suits are not made from the same material as Capi's shield, they're made of gold and titanium if I recall the firs one when he was designing them. that's why the get damaged.

The Suits are not made out of Vibrainium. lol. If they were, all the damages would be reflected off the armor wouldn't it?

The only Vibrainium is in Caps shield, they have no more. And I don't think it reflects energy but it absorbs it into itself making it stronger as it collects more.

I kind of enjoyed it but I feel it is the weakest of the three movies :/

- I am not familiar with Iron Man comics but him removing shrapnel in the end kind of ruins the whole Palladium part in IM2. I mean he could've just had it removed instead of building an entirely new material! (similar to the whole eagles mess in LOTR).

The way I understood this was that after he reverse engineered the extremis program from Pepper, Tony also went through the whole extremis program before having the shrapnel removed.

He could not survive that operation without it. I might be wrong though?

Personally I thought Iron Man 3 was the best film so far. It was refreshing for Stark to finally be up against an enemy that wasn't simply another mechanical suit, which is something I thought let down the previous films. I thought the humour was a bit too in-your-face, like it was trying too hard, but overall I thought the pace and development was excellent. It was better than I expected.

PS - The outro sequence (the one before the proper credits) was excellent. It did a great job on summarising the film and the trilogy.

The only Vibrainium is in Caps shield, they have no more. And I don't think it reflects energy but it absorbs it into itself making it stronger as it collects more.

I believe the Suborbital suit "Gemini" is made from it, the materials come from Wakanda

I'm looking forward to seeing it soon. Some very mixed reviews in here, though.

If you know the comic books you will be disappointed or have a bad viewing. If you only know the movies it will be great. All depends on where you are with iron man and the story behind him.

As someone who knows a little of the comics it was a disappointment. But looking at it from the movie universe only it was pretty good, not as good as the first IMO but better than the second.

I know and am a huge fan of the comics. I have to say this movie (up till the end) was absolutely awesome. The Mandarin was brilliant. I mean absolutely BRILLIANT! This could have been the best of the 3. However the ending really didn't go with the rest of the movie. It felt like an alternate ending.

I disliked the Mandarin. I thought it was all wrong. While the movies don't portray the comic books entirely, the whole character portrayal I thought was wrong. I just didn't feel that he was the Mandarin more of a random character that they gave the name to.

To be honest i've lost all interest in super hero movies after the Avengers. I tought the Avengers was a fine summer pop corn movie but nothing more. No problem with that usually. The problem is everyone and their dog told me this was teh b3st movie ev4r period. So since i'm a fan of Whedon tv material i expected the second coming of jesus christ. I was totally disappointed. For me the Avengers was a "good for what it is" but extremely flawed movie like the Tree of life. I enjoyed it but it could have been SO much better (specially the script and the actors playing gods but was not up to the task).

I'll watch it on TV when all the crazy over the top hype will be dead. I'll probably appreciate it more this way. I think this is crazy the hype over marvel super hero movies which are for the most part basically the same story told over and over again. This is close to be as crazy as the hype over Call of Fluffy games (the new ones that have nothing to do with the original). I think one day or another Marvel will burn itself by releasing so much super hero movies with the same awful script. Sorta like the industry did coupld of years ago with Jaws 20 and Friday the 13th 33 ...

I have to agree. I wanted to like it, but they watered him down to such a degree that it was very disappointing...

After what has come before, there is no reason they couldn't have had the Mandarin have the power rings and all that. They had a guy spitting fire! But the power rings were deemed too hokey? LMAO

I think that would have made for a better movie and given them more of an opportunity to use this as a launching off point for Phase 2.

I think they actually forgot that in that same universe they have a guy who comes from another planet and throws lightning like pebbles (Thor), aliens called Chitauri that came through an interdimensional portal and just a bit more grounded, a flying aircraft carrier. I havent seen the film but have read all the spoilers, reviews and commentary and am definitely disappointed how Marvel dropped the ball. And I'm not really a fan of IM in the comics but at least I know this movie doesnt do his character justice.

You're absolutely right. It makes absolutely no sense... lol

How did somebody put it....

What if in batman the joker wasn't really the joker?  This is what happened in ironman....his #1 nemesis wasn't really there, his name was but that was about it.  This seemed more of the extremis storyline and that they gave a really important villan title to a secondary or lesser villan (think Bane in the Batman and Robin movie compared to Bane in the Dark Knight Rises).

Horrible movie, totally horrible. Tried to do a lot bu never accomplished anything. The interesting subplots (Stark's post-traumatic shock) were executed like a bad Spielberg movie. The other subplots (the annoying kid) were unnecessary. The script was a trainwreck. And the ending was lame.

That's a good comparison actually.

It was a huge disappointment. It will do well of course, but it could have actually been a good movie... And that's what is most disappointing to be honest.

Thanks to Hi-Def Ninja, we have both the reveal of the Iron Man 3 steelbook edition and an idea of the special features that we should expect to see featured on the disc. It doesn't exactly sounds as if the Blu-ray will be bursting at the seams with hours of special features, but this listing does at least confirm that it will include the Agent Carter One-Shot (starring Hayley Atwell reprising her Captain America: The First Avenger role) and an exclusive preview of Thor: The Dark World.

? Marvel Short Film: Agent Carter

? Iron Man 3 without mask

? Analyze the scene: the attack on Air Force One

? Deleted and extended scenes

? An exclusive behind the scenes - Thor: The Dark World

    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistake—ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the “nuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
    • Microsoft: Windows 11 could finally solve a major issue across AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs by Sayan Sen While Microsoft has been trying to improve it, Windows 11 is definitely not flawless, as even today some issues are taking a year to publicly acknowledge. However, one area of trouble that may finally see much better results soon is graphics driver crashes. Work on graphics driver timeouts, also called Timeout and Detection Recovery (TDR), is not new as the latest WDDM 3.2 also has specific improvements regarding it. Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) version 3.2 is supported on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. However, with the upcoming version 26H2, TDR crash diagnosis could go to the next level as Microsoft is introducing a new DirectX 12 API feature called "DirectX Dump Files". Similar to how system memory dump files work when a system crashes or freezes or encounters any such major issue, DirectX Dump Files (DDF) will essentially record a snapshot of the GPU execution right at the moment a graphics-related crash or hang or freeze occurs, so that developers can better understand and diagnoze these TDR and timeout detection errors. The dump will be available as a .dxdmp file for analysis and it will be a comprehensive dump file generated with detailed insights about the hardware, drivers, Windows, as well as the affected application. This should be another welcome change in this department. Earlier at GDC 2026, when the technology was first debuted, Microsoft had shared more details regarding it. The company had explained how DDF is designed to gather data from every layer of the graphics stack into a single file, eliminating the need for developers to manually correlate logs from multiple tools. As mentioned above, the dump can contain a lot of useful details like GPU hardware state information such as register values, shader program counters, page fault virtual addresses, shader memory data, and command buffers. Alongside that, it also captures DirectX runtime and kernel information, including D3D objects, pipeline state objects, device error data, adapter details, and CPU call stacks. Microsoft says the feature has been built around two primary use cases: retail device removals and local device removals. The former allows developers to collect crash information from end users' systems in the field, while the latter helps QA teams and developers investigate issues on test machines. Developers will also be able to include up to 2 MB of custom application data through new D3D12 APIs, providing additional context for troubleshooting. In addition, Microsoft is introducing three dump collection modes ranging from zero-overhead capture, which has no runtime performance impact on supported hardware, to higher-detail modes that collect more vendor-specific debugging data. On compatible Tier 2 hardware, zero-overhead dumps will be enabled by default, meaning developers may begin receiving useful crash diagnostics without making any code changes. The table below explains the three tiers: Tier Description NO_OVERHEAD Enables crash capture with no runtime cost and is suitable for broad deployment MEDIUM_OVERHEAD Provides a balance, capturing additional diagnostic data with moderate impact HIGH_OVERHEAD Collects the most detailed GPU and driver state available, enabling deeper investigation at the cost of higher runtime overhead In terms of availability, the company expects broader release to be around the fall of 2026, which should be right around the time when Windows 11 version 26H2 lands. Right now, DirectX Dump Files are available as a preview and currently, only AMD has the compatible AgilitySDK Developer Preview driver version 26.10.07.02. You can find the official announcement post here on Microsoft's website.
