Awesome program, been using since I saw it first published on Neowin. Great for setup of new pcs, and updating current apps with a single click. My only issue is occasionally the updates will fail; usually with java. I just have to uninstall the app and reinstall with patchmypc. Seems to happen if the original install wasn't done with PatchMyPC and the version is of significant difference. I also find the standalone updates to programs, if ran manually, take longer than patchmypc does. This is becuase of the silent installs.

Nah no point.

Most of the program will notify u with the latest update anyway. I like to check for them sometimes too also drivers and crap can be updated in Windows update!

Windows update only has WHQL drivers tested by Microsoft, they aren't even the latest version of the drivers.

Since when does Windows Update download updates for programs like firefox, adobe flash and skype?

Both Firefox and Flash have their own automatic update, so why you should need another one. And for Skype: if I'm not wrong, since fall 2012.

I think the major advantage is after reformatting someones computer. Select what you want installed/updated, and walk away.

Nice. I liked the idea but thought, ugh another piece of software to install and slow down my PC. Thought I would give it a chance anyway. Well, what do you know. A standalone small .exe and no installation!

As others have said great tool for fixing your family's slow malware ridden laptops ;)

Also for updating the average users PC. This is what the average persons computer looks like, or at least the type of PC I see "Almost" everyday!

Works great for remote assistance and computers in my office.. I click update and it updates every single one of those applications automatically.

A new version was just released

https://patchmypc.net/download

You can now use it in combination with a settings file which allows prechecking of certain applications that you use always check. Like during remote assistance, I always check ccleaner and malwarebytes.

Here is sample of the file https://patchmypc.net/freeupdater/DefaultApps.settings

I tried it a couple years ago and have used it since. It's really handy.

    • Dead by Daylight, Two Point Museum, and more join Xbox Free Play Days for the weekend by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe There is a brand-new Free Play Days offer available to Xbox players, giving them a chance to try out a new selection of games over the weekend. Microsoft's latest promotion brings some high-profile titles, including the sports title PGA TOUR 2K25 and the racing sim Assetto Corsa. Almost all the games being offered this time require an Xbox Game Pass subscription, with only one title being available for all players. Starting with the fully free-to-play section, Dead by Daylight is populating it solo. This asymmetric survival horror title should be the most familiar to most gamers, considering its age. The multiplayer four-versus-one asymmetric survival horror game has you assuming the roles of survivors or the killer to see who can come out on top. This Dead by Daylight offer will be available to play until Monday, June 22, giving you an extra day of play compared to the remainder of the Free Play Days titles. Meanwhile, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and Essential members can now try out the well-received tycoon game Two Point Museum, the circuit racing sim Assetto Corsa, as well as 2K's golf sim experience that gives players a career to develop alongside real-world pros and courses. Here are the announced games and the platforms they are available to play on: PGA TOUR 2K25 (Xbox Series X|S) Two Point Museum (Xbox Series X|S) Assetto Corsa (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One) Dead by Daylight (Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One) To easily find the titles on Xbox consoles, first head to the Store, and then in the sidebar, find the Home section. In there, open the Subscriptions tab. All the games from the Free Play Days collection will show up in this section for quick access. Apart from Dead by Daylight's offer, this week's Free Play Days promotions will end on Sunday, June 21, at 11:59 pm PT.
