**** THIS MONTH! I do not have the money for all of this! lol.

Lol! That was fun yesterday as we went back and forth in Prototype 2 Shakey! hahaha. I won though ;).

YES IT WAS! OMG! I was like, " I wonder if he is having as much fun as I am..." I logged on to see I was put into 2nd place. I had a friend with me too. I was like, "ooo, time to beat a record!" Beat it, then just moments later see, "2nd place" again :p. I spent a lot of time butt kicking biobombs for that 1094 :p but was in the yellow district, so not too many tall buildings to throw people off of. Might give you a run for your money when I go back to red zone tonight :p

I like how the game updates and informs in real time. Makes it great to go back and forth with :)

Got my email today from Gamefly that it shipped. Just realized if it has an online pass I am screwed. :/

Oh well, will check out the SP first, and if I plan to keep it, will spend the $44.99, that is what they are currently asking for it as their Keep It Now price, not bad.

Gametrailers has their video review up...

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-starhawk/729877

8.3

Pretty decent score, and the SP Story is what was rated lowest, only a 7.0

Cancelled my order with Tesco and gone with HMV for the pre-order bonuses, seems we don't get the free month PSN+ or Warhawk though :(

Looking forward to getting some decent game time with this though.

Well, we don't have an official thread for this.... and I don't feel like putting in the effort to do it :p But here are my 2 cents after a night with the game.

First, I am a newbie to warhawk. I never played them, mostly due to not being too interested in plane only fights. But this game has more than that. With that acknowledged; coming to this game as a newbie is very very intimedating. There are different controls for each vehicle, with different buttons having different abilities. Along with having the ability to build bases and other important facilities, this game is a little confusing and scary for me.

I started off in single player so I could get a understanding of the gameplay and controls. The single player campaign is very good at teaching you how to play, but not exact at teaching you the best or most effiecent way of doing something. After about an hour of single player, I jumped into Multi....

Multiplayer is just insanity.... i can't explain it any other way. There is 0 team work it seemed like. I don't think I ever heard another person speak during my 3 to 4 hours of play. I mostly seemed to just spawn, build what it seemed like our base needed, or built a jetpad and just flew off to dog fight :p

Dog fights with the hawks is something that takes a lot of practice. There are a ton of little things that greatly help and hinder your ability to survive. Apparently, hawks can not lock onto other hawks who have mechform. This is a good tactic when you are locked on, just switch form :p Very annoying, but hell, just use it against them as well.

There seems to be 1 very over powered vehicle at the moment, or maybe just no one I was teamed with could ever figure out how to fully take it down... It is the tank like vehicle that looks like a tank crossed with that all terain vehicle in mass effect 1. This thing is a beast! It seemed to shoot down any hawk in about 2 shots or less, but would take a ton of firepower to actually drop the tank. These things would just drive into the base, destroy everything, then leave.

Now, I know my review seems like I don't really like the game, but I really did. While there is a lot that is just overwhelming, confusing, and just down right seems unfair... it is all very fun, and it feels like if you take the time to learn, you will be rewarded.

Side note- those who bought Twisted Metal 3... we get a awesome sweet tooth skin for the bad guys :)

As someone who played the beta but doesn't own the game, my advice is to not waste too much time building walls or defending. Build a vehicle and immediately try and steal their flag. If you get just 1-2 players helping you capture the flag you can win pretty easily.

I was focusing mainly on that when I noticed that the tank would just destroy anything I tried to build :p

I think walls need to have a higher amount of health. They just dont seem to be worth any effort.

FFFFFFFFFuuuu... so yeah, just as expected, need an online pass to play, and since I rented it, I do not have one. So do I purchase the online pass for $10, or do I put that $10 and just choose to Keep It Now from Gamefly for $45?

Keep in mind, I got Max Payne 3 and Ghost Recon both preordered paid in full, and they come out in consecutive weeks, so chances are high once I get those games, Starhawk would go on the back burner so to speak until I am done with them.

So yeah, just think I answered my own question. Gonna check out SP, see how I dig it, then make a decision. If anything thinking I can purchase the online pass, then just hold on to it until Gamefly lowers the price, which they usually do in a month or so. Or if I really dig the SP, just purchase it outright for the $45, as I do remember firing up Warhawk multiple times over the course of two years or so, so it is a purchase I feel even if not initially, I would get my moneys worth from eventually.

Damn online passes.

Ya, sorry, I should have answered that for you yesterday lol.

You can't really gauge this game off of single player though. If you enjoy single, you will really like online. But single seemed really stale to me, where as online was a insanity fun fest.

Since I got this game, I'm actually going to be putting MP3 on hold, since diablo 3 is coming out as well. Just too many damn games! lol

Yeah spotted last night in the store that there was an Online Pass system for this, they really are screwing over potential customers that like you have rented the game Larry. Without seeing what the game is really like they could be losing out, they should do something like a 24 hour free online pass per PSN account per game or something. (Think I might go sell that idea to Sony)

Games should definitely do a 24 hour trial per PSN ID.

Yeah I don't know why they don't do it, they can't be oblivious to the fact that there are games rental companies out there and that if people get a chance to sample the online side they might then go buy the full game or even purchase the online pass.

Just got email from HMV saying my copy has been dispatched.

    • The fact that memory in general is so high I have to take a loan out to build a computer now is just beyond stupid. Who's really to blame here? Low supply or high demand?
    • Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.5.5 by Razvan Serea Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a utility for completely removing AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics drivers and related packages from your system, attempting to eliminate all leftovers (including registry entries, folders and files, driver store). Though AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL drivers can usually be removed via the Windows Control Panel, this uninstaller tool was created for situations where standard uninstall fails, or when you need to fully remove NVIDIA or ATI graphics card drivers. After using this driver cleaner, your system will behave as though it’s the first time you’re installing a new driver—similar to a fresh Windows installation. As with all such tools, we recommend creating a restore point beforehand, allowing you to undo changes if issues arise. If you're having trouble installing an older or newer driver, try it—there are reports that it resolves such problems. Recommended usage: The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best. Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe). It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues. You do NOT need to uninstall the driver prior using DDU. Requirements: .NET Framework 4.8 Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit or 64-bit) Note: Using on Insider Preview builds is at your own risk. WACUP 1.99.51.24568 Preview changelog: Fixed a deadlock seen from the recent crash reports when doing some of the drag + drop actions within the media library window Fixed a loading crash seen related to a problem with some of the artwork cache image files being restored which should now be better handled allowing for the bad image to be removed without it failing Fixed a deadlock seen from the recent crash reports when the internal metadata cache clearing is triggered which could block the main ui thread for too long with this now being moved to a background thread Fixed some performance issues with some of the methods related to determining artwork support which mainly affected the local library import / refresh (this is still slower for some compared to other players because there's more data & artwork aspects being checked for which means doing more processing on a single file despite the best of attempts to reduce duplicate / heavy processing where possible) Fixed a crash with the JTFE based missing files hotkey which no one seems to have used for an age for this to appear (maybe it's time to seriously consider stripping out features that aren't being used) Fixed how some of the file types which use extra information to reference their sub-songs is handled which was preventing some from being correctly resolved back to their base file (noticed fixing above) Fixed an issue with the handling of files with underscores in their filepath which wasn't being correctly handled causing some of the filename to be lost when shown as the title if title reading is delayed Fixed a few things that might be behind NotSoDirect not being stable for some setups though am still not certain that the changes done for this are going to fully resolve the problem from the crash reports Fixed the OS toast handling when there's no prior shortcut in the OS start menu to now create the shortcut (needed to allow the yes/no buttons for the new build / post-release toast) to be done as a hidden one so it's less likely to cause annoyance for those not wanting to see it whilst still allowing this less than ideal OS api implementation requirement to be met to avoid toasts without the needed buttons Fixed a regression when moving from taglib1 to taglib2 which broke some of the handling in place to allow for external programs to still access files when wacup has a held open cached instance of the file Everything else Updated cppwinrt (gen_win10shell.dll) to 3.0.260520.1 (26 May 2026) Updated libcurl (libcurl.dll) to 8.2.1 (24 Jun 2026) Updated Monkey's Audio (in_ape.dll) to 13.15 (28 Jun 2026) Updated mpg123 (mpg123.dll) to 1.33.6 (6 Jun 2026) Updated OpenSSL (libcurl.dll) to 3.5.7 (9 Jun 2026) Updated pugixml to 1.16 (16 Jun 2026) Updated taglib (tag2.dll) to 2.3.0 (11 May 2026) Updated vgmstream (in_vgmstream.dll) to the latest Git commit from 28 Jun 2026 Download: WACUP 64-bit | 9.6 MB (Freeware) Download: WACUP 32-bit View: WACUP Website | Screenshots Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
