'Lost' will eventually return, says co-creator Damon Lindelof

Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof has claimed that the show will eventually return in some form.

The Star Trek writer / producer dropped hints about a possible revival at Variety's Entertainment & Technology Summit.

"It's been two years [since the show ended] and we told the story we wanted to tell," Lindelof said.

However, he added: "I do feel like the world has not seen the end of Lost but I'm not going to have any involvement."

Lindelof insisted that he would be happy for a new production team to oversee a Lost continuation.

"It would be hypocritical for me to say I'm going to [reboot] Star Trek but I don't want anyone to touch Lost," he said.

The final episode of Lost aired on ABC in May 2010. Exec producer Lindelof was also the show's chief writer, contributing 45 episodes.

Why? It was bad enough the first time and that final episode was honestly the worst thing I've ever seen on TV.

I think they got in over their heads. They dug themselves in a really deep hole which, if they could fill, it would have been considered one of the best finales of all time. Alas, they kinda did the whole cop out with the "character driven" BS, rather than explaining the questions about the island the fans wanted all along. If they made a sequel that focused on the island, i could see it working fairly well.

You don't watch a lot of TV then, do you?

I love how they ended LOST. I would rather they leave it alone, even if I do miss it, it was great and now it is over, leave it be.

They definitely got in over their heads and lost track of the story line. The show showed promise up until the end of the 2nd season and it was all down hill from there.

I don't actually think there's anything left to explain about the island because the whole purgatory thing can be used to justify any weirdness.

The only way they could have created a lazier ending would have been if all the characters had woken up and the whole thing had been a dream. The final scene in the church/hotel/whatever it was supposed to be was the cheesiest thing I've ever seen - I was actually embarrassed to watch it with other people in the room.

WE HAVE TO GO BAAAACK!!!

And obviously, you didn't get it.

The island was not purgatory.

They met up in purgatory AFTER they all died. Some of them died on the island, some off, some much later. But the 'weirdness' of the island had nothing to do with the purgatory at the end of the finale.

Agreed. I certainly wouldn't watch anything else they come out with about it. Already wasted enough time on the first series.

The ending was just plain stupid and the direction they took really upset me. I loved the show but lets not forget about the 35mins of show for that hour time slot and the 25mins of commercials that seemed to have came in at the worst times and then returned the show a split second after a commercial ended. That right there was what I hated most about the whole show!!

I'm usually the one on google asking 'what the hell did that ending mean?' but I completely understood the Lost ending first time around. I just don't get why people still think that they were dead the whole time....

Loved the series, but it doesn't need to come back.

I wasn't sure if I posted in this thread but now that it was necrobumped I'll comment to say that I hope they never bring it back. The ending was horrible the work up to it was horrible.... they should have kept it to a secret island that really existed instead of what they did. I never felt so let down by a show in my life. Don't even get me started on how long the show was for a 1 hour time slot of really only to be about 35minutes each week. You had just about 25minutes of commercials each time it was aired and unless you recorded it I felt as if my life was being wasted.

I watched the first couple seasons on netflix.. I thought it started off really well.. whole island survival thing.. but then the season came where they were "Rescued" but not.. and they wanted to go back.. but not... I dunno it just kind of lost my interest.

I really enjoyed the show and I like the concept of what they were doing. If you liked Lost you might also like Person of Interest (which has quite a few actors from Lost in it) there are even a few mentions directly to Lost in it and the writers have mentioned a few times that they might be in the same universe.

If they did reboot it, I would like them to just do the whole island survival thing, and stay away from monsters and purgatory and the like. Keep it as a story about survival, like a serious version of Gilligans Island or something.

I enjoyed the show, although it really lost its way towards the end which was a shame. I'm not sure how I would feel about a continuation or a reboot. Actually, I'd be against a reboot this soon after it ended.

This.
