Is Alcatraz worth watching bearing in mind that it has been canceled, is there some sort of acceptable ending at the end of season 1?

Nah, it has a cliff hanger at the end of the series... I thought the episodes got progressively worse as the series went on.

I got about 4 shows in, it was pretty bad. There was no sense that the show was going anywhere. Well, they was in a very small capacity early on but after that, they seemed to just go into making one shot stories for each episode without ever touching on a story arch.

The reason they get canned is because Fox expects instant ratings success, not every show is a big hit, they don't give the shows time to establish themselves.

TV Ratings aren't calculated properly either, they don't take into account out of the home viewing, and I'm pretty sure they don't count DVR and Online Viewing.

TV Ratings ONLY count people with Nielsen boxes. No one else.

There are now DVR ratings, but those are new and separate.

This is why I just stopped watching new shows. Waste of time.

I totally agree, I cannot see the point in investing time and devotion to a show only to have it canceled after one season (If it made it that far)
