Iphone 4s wifi slow internet problem

Hello,

I am posting this message on behalf of a friend.

My friend got a brand new iPhone 4s today. Playing with it etc and he wanted to FaceTime me so i told him how to use it. We are occasionally able to receive each other facetime calls but when connecting it take a long time and then wont connect at all. After looking at various setting, we established that its my friends internet as when he tries a Google search, it searches for a long time, only to then display a error message.

We've tried all the different methods such as restarting phone/router, resetting network setting, renewing lease, on/off Airplane Mode, etc yet still no luck. My friend assures me that at some times, on his wifi network is a laptop, 2 Ipod touches and a Xbox, yet this time when he was trying there was no one else on network and it wont work.

On his phone he has full wifi signal. Also if he was to search via 3G internet it works fine yet on his wifi it wont work. Ive asked him to test his phone and one of the ipod touches side by side to see if both wont work or just his phone.

After a quick google search. I asked him to check what IOS he was on and he was on 5.1 and i told him to update it to 5.1.1 as someone suggested that 5.1 could cause this problem. However he is unable to download the update due to his wifi however i have told him to connect his phone to his laptop and update it that way which he will try tomorrow

Can anyone else suggest ways to sort this

      Yeah, this is absolutely nothing new and EA have done it before. Burnout Paradise, released in 2008, had dynamic advertising billboards that were updated via the internet and targeted people based on location and what EA knew about them from their profile. It was particularly notable for the fact that the Obama presidential campaign ran ads in the game, in an attempt to reach a younger audience who didn't watch broadcast TV any more.       MSN defined our generation in some ways, kind of like Snapchat and TikTok have done for future generations. I have great memories of the MSN era in the late 90s / early 2000s. In the UK everyone seemed to come home from School and go on MSN for the evening. We didn't really have mobile phones then, so other than going and knocking on your friends door it was a totally new way of interacting with people. I also loved how I could talk to people I’d met playing online games from around the world. Inviting people to NetMeeting and messing about with the shared white board and webcams was pretty fun, even if webcams only ran at a couple of fps over dial-up. All the random things you could do with MsgPlus! were really fun - I suspect that made a few people jump with /shello randomly blasting Mr Hankey out their speakers! Maybe I’m just nostalgic, however I do feel the internet and computers were more fun back then.
