The descriptive text of a site in google

WHen you search for a site and you have the little text that describes the site, how do you change that? I have a site and the text under it when you type it in google is old - it's not in the index.html, I think it's somethign when you register the site with google - anyone know? Thanks

Its in the meta tag description.http://www.highrankings.com/metadescription

Although if the description tag you use is spammy or irrelevant Google may use another piece of your content.

Meta tags. If they're missing, I think it just looks for some text on the index page.
