1000 Posts Later.... And I'm Still Here

Recommended Posts

I've been using Neowin for about 4 years now, for a while I was a lurker but just over a year and a half ago I decided to join the forums. I usually start using a forum but then either get bored of it or find that the members are ass hats but I've just hit 1000 posts. I wanted to make a quick tread just saying what's kept me here and what I find so different about this forum to others.

First and foremost are the other members, I find that a lot of respect is shown to others on here (well with a few exceptions) which is a big deal as having a forum full of flame wars is just no fun so respecting others opinions goes a long way, in my books, to making a great forum. I also find that the forums are pretty much open, other places I've felt shunned because there were little groups of friends and if others commented in a thread that one of them had made they would either ignore you or mock you, never once have I had that feeling on Neowin which is nice.

I also find that the wide range of topics keeps me here, I can go from tech news, to religion, to someone's real life drama and then even get Warwagoned once in a while if I'm in the mood. This helps to keep my attention as reading the same kinds of threads over and over becomes so boring, I honestly can spend hours on here, in fact the new content page is my most viewed web page!

It's not the most important thing but I love the design of the forums (and the whole site in general), I think that Pegasus looks awesome and having something nice to look at while browsing is always a plus. I also like that there are customisable options so that, for instance, if I got bored of the background I just need to go change it and then it feels all new again.

I could go on and on but I'd end up waffling and I don't want it to be a case of "tl;dr" :p Basically what I want to say is this achievement is more yours than mine, I never thought I'd have a post count that was 4 figures but Neowin proved me wrong. Thanks for all the news, laughter, drama, cooking tips, beer recommendations, well... you get the drift! :)

    • I tried to get the latest secureboot certificate for my old Dell 7010 Optiplex machine.   I restored the default settings to Secure Boot. Big mistake.  Now when secure boot is on. The machine doesn't boot and complains about no booting devises.  The computer's secure boot can't find where to boot and the information apparently has to be entered manually.  Secureboot's settings are now years old and it can't find a new configuration.  What could be done here? There are plenty of files to choose from in the secureboot menu, but I don't know what to put there for each of the four Windows 11 upgraded from 10..... originally who knows what (used machine) without secureboot it booting normally
    • I see you're still rocking that g700 mouse
    • They need to follow the standard for AAA game but they will go at lowest level for triple a game because will sell more, earn kudos and the milk it for years anyway. look how much they milked gta 5 and how they milked the original 3 - San Andreas and vice city. it is probably going to be a fun game but then they allowed someone to remake classics that somehow were more broken and worse then original i hope they don’t ###### up this one!!!
    • In addition to the "sidebar app list" and "Collections" features, Microsoft will also deprecate the "Drop" feature. Before you publish this news and credit another site, here is the original source: https://x.com/i/status/2067838711870439583 .
