Samsung Galaxy S3 (GTi9300)

Recommended Posts

Just picked one of these up this morning. Not really played much with it. I fluffed the setup and accidentally. Skipped the 50GB dropbox offer. So i've had to factory reset to get it back. I'm sure there was an easier way but i just loaded the phone so it didn't matter that much.

Going to spend the next few hours playing around with it.

Edit: Just read the dropbox email, i have to complete some steps to get the 50GB. Idiot. Should have read that before the reset haha

How do you get your data allowance on Dropbox, I launched the app on the phone and entered my details, but still only have 5GB :(

Login to your dropbox in a browser and click the getting started link. This will list the steps you can do to get your 50GB. You don't have to do all of them luckly.

Thanks Lingwo but that link shows the ndroid link with a line through it, meaning already done, but the space is not given :( I have sent an email to dropbox, also it seems that it is only on HTC's with ICS installed, reading the help files?

I have a Galaxy S3 and unlocked the 50GB for my current account. I had to login first through the dropbox app on android and then got an email telling me how to unlock the 50GB. Which linked to the get started page. Here is what the page should look like.

Yes, I have the bottom one the same as yours, with the line through it, but no extra space given on my account :( I have emailed drop box regarding it and they say I have no mobile devices attached to my account, even though I have the phone in front of me sending and deleting files from the dropbox account just to check it :(

Perhaps try deleting the app and re-installing it? I don't know if you can do that on the S3 as it is pre-installed.

You could also try signing out of the app on your phone and then signing back in. Perhaps it is a bug their end that didn't pick it up the install first time round.

can't uninstall it, appears to be no option to :( Just clear cache etc which didn't work :( Maybe it's because I have 5GB and the default is 2GB (I got the other 3GB through referrals)

I don't think so. I logged in with an existing account and it will add to your current capacity to make 50GB. So when you get this problem sorted you'd get 45GB of space.

I'm out of ideas. I think either contact Samsung support or Dropbox support and somehow try and prove you own the phone and then perhaps they could activate it manually.

If anyone is confused about how Smart Stay works like I was, this might help.

I thought Smart Stay was supposed to place an eye icon in the notification bar whenever you're looking at the screen but I was mistaken.

It works in partnership with the screen timeout setting and whenever the screen is about to time out, it checks if you're watching the screen. If you are, it won't turn off. So if your screen timeout is set to 15 seconds, an eye will pop up in the top bar every 15 seconds to check if you're watching, and the screen should stay on. Works with or without my glasses on :D

Works almost 100% perfectly for me now. Every so often the screen will turn off but it's no biggie.

I was kind of confused too. I was looking at it waiting for the eye to appear and then i'd turn away and look back and the eye was there. I started to think that it was thinking the side of my head are my eyes

Thanks for explaining it.

No probs :) Yeah I thought the same! And I was pulling all kinds of stupid faces to try to get the eye to appear haha.

This way obviously uses less battery than always watching your eyes too!

My Pebble Blue arrived today! Will compare in a bit but first I have a new SSD to install ;o

Awesome, I have had to send my white phone back and cancel the contract as vodafone/werephonecarhouse deemed the phone faulty due to the dropbox issue!!! Maybe I will set up a new account and get the blue one, it does indeed look very good.

Pebble Blue might have done it for me. That LED Notification too just looks so juicy! LOL For whatever reason I just didn't like the white too much. Nice phone but i can live without. That Pebble Blue now however looking pretty!!

OH and how about a battery life rundown screenshot now? I'm sure you've broken in the battery and gone thru a few "normal" days with it. :)

    • KillerPDF 1.4.2 by Razvan Serea KillerPDF is a lightweight, portable PDF editor for Windows built for users who want full control without subscriptions, installers, or telemetry. It runs as a single executable, making it ideal for USB use and field work. You can view PDFs with smooth PDFium rendering, navigate quickly with thumbnails, zoom, and shortcuts, and reorganize pages using drag-and-drop. It supports merging multiple PDFs, splitting documents, and extracting selected pages. KillerPDF also allows inline text editing with font matching to preserve the original layout, plus annotations like text boxes, freehand drawing, highlights, and reusable signatures. You can search full text, copy content easily, and print documents with flattened annotations. Designed as a free and open alternative to bloated PDF tools, it works fully offline on Windows 10/11 x64. No runtimes install. Everything needed is inside the EXE (targets .NET Framework 4.8, which ships with every supported Windows release). KillerPDF key features: High-quality PDF rendering via PDFium Edit PDF text inline (double-click to modify text) Page thumbnails and fast navigation with zoom and shortcuts Merge multiple PDFs into one Split PDFs and extract selected pages Drag-and-drop page reordering Font matching to preserve original document appearance Text boxes for notes Freehand drawing tools Highlight overlays with adjustable color, size, opacity Undo actions and clear per-page annotations Create, draw, and save reusable signatures Click-to-place signatures anywhere Full-text search with highlighted results Drag-select or Ctrl+A to copy text Print with annotations flattened Portable single-file app (~10 MB) No installer, no admin rights required No account, no telemetry KillerPDF 1.4.2 changelog: What's new PDF form filling. Interactive PDF forms now render their fields (text inputs, checkboxes, radio buttons) as live controls. Fill them in directly and save — field values are written back into the PDF. PDF outline (bookmark) navigation. A new OUTLINES tab in the sidebar displays the document's bookmark tree. Click any entry to jump to that page. The sidebar auto-fits its width to the longest entry on open and can be dragged wider; switching back to PAGES snaps to the pages-mode width. Fixed Page rotation no longer reverts after saving. Rotations applied via the sidebar context menu now persist correctly through the save pipeline. Copied text words were out of order on PDFs where glyphs are stored in non-reading order (Issue #66). Text extraction now sorts words by position and uses a dynamic line-grouping threshold so both drag-select and Select All produce correctly ordered output. PDFs with malformed or non-standard XRef tables now open in read-only mode instead of showing "Invalid entry in XRef table" and failing entirely. • The very fact that a TPM (v2.0 specifically which is part of the issue I suspect) is now a baseline for any supported Windows installation will naturally mean other vendors will start to leverage it as they know it'll be there. It's called progress, and it's always been the way. A TPM isn't a windows thing, it's just a module designed to securely store keys. Secure boot isn't a Windows thing (although MS are the TCA as I recall hence the upheaval this year as the 2011 certs expire), it's just a way to verify a bootloader is signed. Windows simply leverages them.
    • It's a local account with the ability to reset a password at a very base level. I really don't get the issue that gets whipped up around it But you do you
