tsupersonic
After my OCZ Vertex died after 4 months, I will never get again get an OCZ product. Not only was the product crap, but the support was terrible as well. I have had my Intel SSD's for a while, and they have been going strong. kiddingguy
So basically you guys recommend the Intel 520... No experiences with HyperX or is that SSD just as good as Intel's? L1520
I bought this a couple of weeks ago & I'm delighted with it -- http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004W2JKZI/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00 My understanding from reading numerous forums & reviews is that (previously encountered firmware issues aside) is is more reliable than OCZ, Intel & Samsung alternatives. My PC boots Windows 8 CP in 6 seconds from boot....I will get a 2nd one for media when price falls below ?50. kiddingguy
Changed the OCZ V4 to an Intel 520 120 GB. Thx for the last call/last minute "warning" Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1080675-new-reliable-ssd-intel-520-or-kingston-hyperx/page/2/#findComment-594899111 Share on other sites
ViperAFK
What issues have you had? I've used every version of OCZ SSD (except for the 4) and they are all still running strong. I'm assuming you have the latest firmware running on them, correct? Yeah, I'm still using my vertex 2 and haven't had a single issue with it. Astra.Xtreme
You should have stuck with the Vertex 4. The reason OCZ gets a bad rap is because they are the best selling, thus have more failures. All brands have numerous failures, so it's just luck of the draw. I have 5 OCZ drives running between my computers and have built PCs for companies using OCZ and haven't had a single failure. It differs from person to person, but I'd say overall OCZ is one of the best. Or people don't keep up with firmware updates. Yes, it's a bad excuse, but the updates make a huge difference. The Vertex 4 is faster and has a better controller than the 520, but I'm sure the Intel will be fine. kiddingguy
Yeah, I'm still using my vertex 2 and haven't had a single issue with it. Different kinds of BSOD's. I hope this is over with the 520 Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1080675-new-reliable-ssd-intel-520-or-kingston-hyperx/page/2/#findComment-594899383 Share on other sites
shiven
Different kinds of BSOD's. I hope this is over with the 520 Since you bought the 520, and I bought the V4, we should compare once we've installed :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1080675-new-reliable-ssd-intel-520-or-kingston-hyperx/page/2/#findComment-594899557 Share on other sites
kiddingguy
Since you bought the 520, and I bought the V4, we should compare once we've installed :) I've had several on my Vertex Turbo and Vertex 2... Kelxin
Get the Intel, they've got a 5 year warranty, and doing an RMA through Intel is easier than any of the other companies. patseguin Global Moderator Posted June 1, 2012 Global Moderator Share Posted June 1, 2012 I found Kingston to be totally unreliable. I use Corsair in all my new builds. alpha2beta
Crucial M4 is by far the best bang for the buck and they have the best reviews as well. From what I could see they have the least amount of problems of any SSD. alpha2beta
Personally I'd avoid SandForce based models... Glassed Silver:mac I totally agree, SandForce is one of the worst controllers on the market when it comes to reliability.
