Well bext gen console are using beefed up mobile parts.. And they have ram and cores locked. It will also max out Pretty fast because of x86 and common programmation knowlegde. They are already hitting a wall with bf4 being 720p, ki 720p, ryse using some weird 900p resolution abd since they arent enfircing 1080p, tgey will drop the resolution pretty fast. I mean i saw a demo of ps4 game and it was still using trilinear filtering lol

What motherboard supports a 64 bit CPU but only 4 GB of RAM?

There's a fair number of lower end boards that do.  Shoot one of my junk/test rigs is an ASRock 4CoreDual SATA2, and it only supports 2GB out of the box, although if I recall there was a third party BIOS mod that allowed more.. got it running an x86 OS though, not much point really otherwise.

There are some, certainly, I just can't imagine many configurations where you'd have a 64 bit CPU, a GPU strong enough to run Watch Dogs, and a motherboard that doesn't support at least 6GBs of RAM.

I know some of the early Intel Core 2s came paired to motherboards that were on that 4 / 6 line, but those are all 7 years old now.

Yea it'll certainly be older stuff, and definitely not justifying the thing.. personally an x64 motherboard that only supports 2GB..  What's the point?  Got somebody's leftovers after I did an upgrade for them, sort of a packrat when it comes to old systems. Games moderately well..ish.  Certainly not to the level this would require obviously.   Just saying there are people out there that are slow to upgrade that may have a setup like that and won't spend money on an upgrade.  (But will buy a PS4/X1.. *shrug*)

While technically my laptop meets the recommended specifications i doubt highly that it would actually run the game. which is strange, it can play FarCry 3 without much issue at all, but GTAIV runs horribly.

GTA IV is horribly unoptimized. That's probably the bigger reason.

The new consoles arent generations behind there just using the weakerGPU's, but beefing them up with additional parts and using unified memory where cpu and gpu can access the same pools of data. That cant be done on the PC because the memory isnt unified its also not in an optimum configuration where everything is built onto a soc so a console is faster than an equivalent PC but i think its time for the PC to take back the crown... if mantle is as good and it says it is the Radeon GPU's are going to get substantially more "power". The 290x could end up completely destroying the titan in BF4 when the update hits and AMD GPU's will definately be the best bang for the buck when - of course - mantle becomes more widespread and in games that will be getting released.  If that happens nvidia will have to start charging more sensible prices for there hardware or make up there own version which they could be working on right now as an answer.

I figured that had something to do with it because Skyrim on full settings looks amazing on my laptop and runs like its nothing at all.

Ubisoft's open-world game Watch Dogs has been pushed back to spring of 2014, the publisher just announced on their blog.P

"Our ambition from the start with Watch Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming," the company wrote. "It is with this in mind that we?ve made the tough decision to delay the release until spring 2014."P

Watch Dogs, originally slated for a November release, was due to be a big launch game for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which will both be out that month. It's also slated for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, and PC.P

"We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now?" Ubisoft wrote. "We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.P

"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the way you respond on the web, at events, press conferences and other opportunities we have to interact. Your passion keeps us motivated.P

"We can?t wait to see you in Chicago next spring. We are confident you?ll love this game as much as we love working on it."P

Ubisoft also announced today that their open-world racing game, The Crew, will be delayed until the next fiscal year, which ranges from April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2015.

I personally say good move. The more I saw of this game recently, the more I was getting worried it was not going to turn out as they wanted it to.

They also probably realized GTA is still moving strong, and also did not want to go against their own Assassins Creed game.

Going to be interesting though to see how this affects sales on the PS4. Infamous: Second Son looks like a beast.

i think it's a good move, i mean GTA5 is selling like hot cakes now so it will be counter wise to release a game like this right now; still i hope that there's isn't a financial motive in the back, because delaying 2 games like this just a month for the next gen consoles release...

What motherboard supports a 64 bit CPU but only 4 GB of RAM?

mATX Intel G41-chipset motherboards fall into this category if they only take DDR2 (example - ASUS P5G41-M LX2/GB - I have this mobo currently).  The CPU is Intel's Q6600 (not just x64, but quad-core to boot); however, the RAM is DDR2-800 (2GB x2).  If it took DDR3 (there *is* a DDR3 version of this board, with the same chipset) I would not be so *stuck*.  The issue is the type of RAM and the MCH, as 4GB DDR2 DIMMs, when they were available, have always been pricier than their faster DDR3 relatives - it makes more sense to change sockets altogether than to purchase another motherboard in what is basically a dead socket.

What the hell? The generation went from strongest launch lineup ever to the usual hit and miss. So now its basically Killzone and Driveclub for PS4 day one. This is very disappointing from a gaming point of view.

My thoughts exactly. I am glad I am getting the XB1 and DR3 at this point.

No, it most likely won't arrive till spring next year. And not that I'm defending them, but Ubi aren't too bad with release schedules. This is a major ###### up, as it hurts the launch of both consoles. No conspiracies, but it may have to do with console supplies. Sony and MS may be asking publishers to lay off the gas since most people won't get the hardware till next year anyway. From pure marketing perspectives, though, this makes no sense.

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistake—ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the “nuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
