Sorry i didn't notice this post man. You already sold it? That's too quick hahaha, should have given it more of a chance, it ain't that bad!

Yeah I played it for 4 hours or more yesterday and not only did it not grab me but a lot of things actively irritated me and got worse the longer I played it. I know its a long game but over 4 hours is long enough for me to know I don't want to invest more time in it.

It seems like they just didn't try with the visuals. There are a lot of gameplay ideas just thrown in there half baked.  The game doesn't seem to know what it wants you to do story-wise, one minute it is telling you to go and find some crime to fight like some kind of superhero whilst all the time encouraging you to hack random peoples bank accounts. The phyics are laughable. The amount of stuff popping up on screen all the time was just plain annoying, you couldn't pan the screen without a load of irrelevant boxes popping up like 'Dave: Has diabetes'  'Steve: Likes to go dogging'.

And then there's those over-stylised cutscenes which just make it look like your console is faulty.

It is like a team of people with ADHD just sat in a meeting room hyped up on candy shouting a load of completely random ideas they thuoght would be cool and they ALL made it into this hodge-podge of a game, so there's a lot of ideas but none of them fully baked.

Hahaha you really didn't take to it. Didn't spend as much time with it as you did, but get what you're saying. Don't mind that it's derivative of other games, don't mind that it's a mix of different things, though agree the constant pop ups with people's incomes are slightly annoying. Guess they're trying to say Pearce can be a good guy or a bad guy. Part of the charm i think is that he's like Max Payne, he's already a badass when we meet him, it's almost like he doesn't need you (the player). You either take to this approach or you don't, i can certainly understand why it can be irritating.

I also understand what you mean about their design process. While i intend to finish Watch Dogs and am pretty sure will overall enjoy it, i honestly am not certain why they even decided to make this game.

Well, I'm currently stuck in the game. Playing with a 360 pad, and every time I load up my save (save system sucks btw lol) and begin walking it auto pulls out a gun and zooms in. I can't get into cars, can't interact with anything and worse off the police get called as soon as I'm near anyone. Kinda annoying. Tried playing with the keyboard and it did the same thing, so not sure what's going on there.

Oh no, say it isn't so...this sounds like the corrupt save problem GTA IV had on PC...Ubi copied even that!

Do you have another save? This game has like four types of saves if i read the loading screen correctly...

Not that I can see? I only can continue and quit mission in game. The save system really sucks as is, unless you literally complete a story mission it never saves it seems. So if you run around hacking people and getting money etc then decide to go eat or sleep or you know, life stuff, your screwed and come back to before you did any of that stuff.

(I mean life stuff IRL btw lol)

I keep hearing that the story, especially the ending, was awful. This in addition to the videos have made me write the game off entirely. Bad stories can be overcome with good gameplay, and bad gameplay can be overcome with a good story. But it looks like this game doesn't do either one well. A shame too. I kind of liked the premise.

I've been watching a lot of the hacking multiplayer - gotta try it out later! :)

Since I fixed the frame rate issue, all has been awesome!

Shame I can't get the Android app to log in. I've tried it from 6am in the morning to midnight BST. :/

Sick of typing my random 24 char password each time lol

I'm in the same boat. I was really looking forward to the game but the hype started to die for me. After watching/reading a few reviews online and reading the comments here I'm glad I cancelled my pre-order. It may be an okay game but looks like it needs some polishing (hopefully via patching) and I may pick it up once the price drops a little.

How to escape the police?

They can be a bitch......it doesn't help that they seem to never lose sight of you......I had two stars (or whatever you wanna call it) and they had a helicopter following me the whole time, making it virtually impossible to escape, as at the time I hadn't gotten far enough to be able to disable helicopters or anything.

I ended up running on foot for a mile or two ducking between alleys and houses, only to jump into an empty pool and wait out for the police to leave me alone.

Makes it even worse that the cars don't control very well compared to cars in many other games. Makes it hard as hell to get away from anything.

Try with an Xbox controller, It seems to play better with ( PC version).

Also Snake Eyes cup game you can cheat by using the PAUSE menu.

OMG the vehicle ontrols in this game is horrible. it's like they tok the worst GTA game and though, how can we make this worse...

I'm doing a mission to get some getaway car to a hideout, some hideous 2 door tiny sports car, and it's absolutely uncontrollable. and if you escape the cops your car magically slides around, into some stupid building with no escape and you're surround by 3 search circles, seriously...

I love how I'm seen as a good guy when I'll happily drain peoples bank accounts who got diagnosed with Cancer, because I'll occasionally beat up a criminal for stealing a handbag. The irony in one case was the woman getting her purse stolen came up as hackable, so before I chased the guy down I stole $4000 from her. Chased down the guy, hacking 3 peoples banks along the way.

The server issues plauging me are the most irritating thing. 50/50 whether or not I can connect to Ubisoft when starting the game, every few hours or so of drops me. Takes me 20 minutes to find an online match, all while telling me the average wait time is 2 minutes. Got into an 8 man decryption match where half the time whoever got the Intel turned invisible and flew away at high speeds, despite there being no vehicles.

The game doesn't even look Next-Gen anymore. I doubt I'll be getting this anytime soon.

Is looks really all that matters ? if it looks better than the current gen which it does, and even if it didn't, does it really matter that much ?

Yea I feel ya, we're still on the cusp of last gen and, since this game is cross-gen, dev time was taken away from making current gen look its absolute best. I'm trying to wait until it hits $30-$40 or a GOTY (laughable) version with all DLC included. You just know that since it's Ubisoft that there'll be half a dozen patches by the time either of the two aforementioned scenarios occur so there's no harm in waiting.

To me next gen is visuals and gameplay as a package. They got the gameplay down for sure with all the extra stuff that's going on. The visuals aren't up to par yet. Like I'm looking at the day portions of the game and it's just really bland. Like everything from wind debris/particles to even a trash blowing down the street. When Ubisoft announced the game my jaw was like on the floor. It looked so nice. Now, I'm like meh... It just seems like another game. I think it's really time they took the jump for last gen to Next Gen.

It's just like in GTA...only finishing a mission as you say or going to bed saves everything, story progression and stats. Otherwise that black save icon only means saving stats, not progression, if you quit the story will go back to the last proper save point, but stats will be current. It's ok once you get used to it.

This confirmed to me that this isn't really Chicago. Decrepit early 2000's Crown Vics and barely maintained Impalas overloaded with Golden Nugget takeout containers in reality, seamless speed and driving skills in Watch Dogs. Authenticity was not a priority.

This part of Watch Dogs i get and respect, and it's not fair that it's judged harshly. Infamous you can be a champion but there will still be people that hate you, same here. Also, the whole idea is the duality of man, you know the whole yin yang thing (lame FMJ reference, i know). I don't mind this part, though it does seem silly.

So how does the engine compare to Crytek 3 engine (Crysis 3 engine)?

It just doesn't look impressive TBH.

There's simply no comparison. With all my love for X1, this version barely looks better than GTA V did on 360 last year. Crytek's games are much nicer looking, but they are not open world. Objectively Ryse was much, much prettier and more advanced. I am not putting this down to hardware issues, on X1 it's just like so many other games...so easy to just upscale the 360 version a little and shove it down the line as a bigger file. I can smell the 360-ness coming off the TV, no kidding. Like "this looks familiar..."

    • Friday Windows 11 preview builds are here. Insiders in the Experimental (formerly Dev) and Beta Channel can download builds 26300.8697 and 26220.8690. My Windows11 device on the Preview Channel just got 26220.8728. My guess is this build is a nightly update from 26220.8690.
    • Traffic has a surprisingly unexpected impact on your surroundings by Sayan Sen Image by Radik 2707 via Pexels A collaborative study by researchers from several Israeli institutions found that everyday pollution from traffic and industrial activity measurably changed the atmospheric electric field over the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, providing new evidence of how human activity can influence the lower atmosphere. The research was led by Dr. Roy Yaniv of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Gertner Institute at Sheba Medical Center, Dr. Assaf Hochman of the Fredy & Nadine Herrmann Institute of Earth Sciences at the Hebrew University, and Prof. Yoav Yair of Reichman University. The study also involved Itay Froomer, a student from Hadera High School and the Israeli Museum of Medicine and Science (Technoda), who carried out the work as part of the Ministry of Education's 5-unit physics research track. The researchers focused on the atmospheric electric field under fair-weather conditions. Even in the absence of storms, a weak electric field naturally exists between Earth's surface and the atmosphere. One of the main ways scientists measure this field is through the Potential Gradient (PG), which is the inverse of the vertical component of the electric field. PG is a key part of the global electric circuit, a planet-wide system of electrical currents maintained by thunderstorms and electrified clouds around the world. Scientists have long known that the atmospheric electric field can be influenced by factors ranging from large-scale atmospheric processes to local weather conditions such as dust, fog and clouds. Human-made pollution is also known to play a role, but understanding exactly how urban emissions affect the electric field close to the ground has remained an area of ongoing research. To investigate this relationship, the team analyzed measurements from a newly installed electric field mill, an instrument used to continuously monitor the strength of the atmospheric electric field. The instrument was installed at the Center for Technological Education (Roter House) in Holon and became operational in August 2024. It was funded by Israel's Ministry of Education and the Holon municipality. The electric field mill forms part of a broader monitoring network that includes nearby meteorological stations and air-quality monitoring sites. This allowed researchers to compare electric field measurements with detailed weather data and pollution records to better understand what was driving changes in the Potential Gradient. The study focused on two major urban pollutants: fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), both commonly produced by vehicle traffic and industrial activity. PM2.5 refers to microscopic airborne particles small enough to remain suspended in the atmosphere for extended periods, while NOx is a group of gases released during fuel combustion. Researchers examined daily, weekly and seasonal patterns in the atmospheric electric field and compared them with changes in pollutant concentrations. Their analysis revealed a clear relationship between NOx levels and changes in the Potential Gradient, particularly during morning and evening rush hours when traffic emissions were at their highest. “What we observe is a direct physical link between emission peaks and electrical variability,” explained Dr. Roy Yaniv. “NOx reduces atmospheric conductivity very quickly, so the electric field responds almost instantaneously during traffic rush hours.” Atmospheric conductivity describes how easily electrical charges move through the air. According to the researchers, nitrogen oxides rapidly alter this conductivity, causing a near-immediate response in the electric field. PM2.5, however, was associated with a delayed response. The researchers attributed this difference to the particles' longer atmospheric residence time, meaning they remain in the atmosphere for longer periods, as well as their different microphysical interactions with surrounding air and atmospheric components. The study also identified a pronounced "weekend effect." In Israel, traffic volumes and some industrial activity decline significantly on Fridays and Saturdays. During these periods, concentrations of both NOx and PM2.5 dropped, and corresponding changes were observed in the atmospheric electric field. “The weekend signal demonstrates just how sensitive the electric field is to changes in human activity,” the researchers noted. “When emissions decline, the electrical environment adjusts at once, providing a high-resolution indicator of urban atmospheric conditions.” The findings showed that pollution levels can influence not only the chemical composition of the atmosphere but also its electrical properties. Researchers said the results strengthened the case for using atmospheric electricity as an additional tool for environmental monitoring, particularly in densely populated urban areas where anthropogenic, or human-caused, influences are most pronounced. The study also pointed to potential public health applications. By combining air-quality measurements with observations of atmospheric electricity, researchers said they could gain a more complete picture of how urban atmospheric conditions change over time. “Integrating air-quality data with electric-field measurements gives us a clearer picture of how the lower atmosphere evolves moment by moment,” the researchers added. “It’s a framework that can support both scientific insight and practical environmental decision-making.” Beyond the scientific findings, the project highlighted a collaboration between universities, public institutions and secondary education. Researchers said the work demonstrated how students could take part in real-world environmental research while contributing to studies of air quality, atmospheric processes and their potential effects on society. • We aren't even at the all-star game and Microsoft is talking about an update that will most likely be released during the World Series if not after. A lot can happen in the world between now and the 2026 World Series, including the 2026 FIFA Cup. Tell me about it again after the FIFA Cup is concluded. That should allow plenty of time to prepare for it.
