dan99t
Hi, I am buying an All in One Printer with Print, Scan & Copy. Should I get it with Fax too ? Is fax obsolete since you can scan & e mail any documents ? What is the difference between faxing & scanning the documents & e mailing them ? Why most companies are still selling printers with fax ? Thanks Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1081973-should-i-get-fax-in-all-in-one-printer/ Share on other sites

Thanks Yes if you can. You never know when you might need it. Get a Kodak AIO printer. The inks are super cheap and they print great. The wifi is super easy to setup. I got one and its great. Never had an issue with it. Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1081973-should-i-get-fax-in-all-in-one-printer/#findComment-594910851 Share on other sites
adam7288
I'd recomend not getting an all in one. Typically it is does all three functions in a very mediocre way. If you have the money, here is the ideal setup: 1. Laser printer 2. Fujitsu scansnap scanner - an amazing high speed scanner - once you try it you will never go back to flatbeds 3. Myfax service (10 dollars a month) - scan the document and send the fax via email attachment (ie [email protected]) - so much easier than fooling around with POTS lines Just my 3 cents Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/1081973-should-i-get-fax-in-all-in-one-printer/#findComment-594910855 Share on other sites
dan99t
Thank you both. But I still don't understand what is the difference between Faxing a document & sending it by e mail after scanning ? What does faxing achieve that scanning & e mailing doesn't ? xn--bya
Faxing is just an older technology, and scan+email enables you to send in colour, higher-resolution and for free. Unless you need to deal with some companies which still only accept faxes I would say it isn't needed. jakem1
Personally I don't think you need to pay for a fax. Chances are you'll never use it as the technology is now pretty much obsolete so you'd just be wasting your money. +Nik Louch Subscriber² Posted June 5, 2012 Subscriber² Share Posted June 5, 2012 Screw fax, nobody uses it anymore (up jumps some idiot going "My little company does" - nobody cares). Use email. It's more secure (if you knew about how faxes worked, you'd know there is no encryption built into the encoding), it's faster, cheaper, paperless, inkless...
