I'm always having THIS roblem...

Recommended Posts

In fact, each time I build a new PC, I'm always running into this very particuliar problem.

Upon the first bootnothing is showed... N bios promt no ****.

Every part has been tested on another computer and is connected at the right place.

Any idea?

Could be the mobo bios battery being new and not charged?

I've had this problem before, but when it happens to me the fans come on for a second and shut off. What i do is disconnect everything, vid car, ram, hard drives, everything, and go one by one and it works. This may sound stupid or retarded but it has worked for me and i've asked a few people who are technicians who have told me is not a bad choice, if anything is always good to make sure everything works before just jumping on and putting everything on.

Uhmm... this isn't all that specific. But maybe you can try connecting just the basic essentials: Keyboard, Monitor and electric. Leave all the PCI slots empty; have only the Graphics Card installed. Leave the I/O bus clear as well (USB, ect). No hard drives either. Try to get the machine to post and enter BIOS. Of nothing works, could be the power supply is bad, or the baseboard is busted. If it works, great. Install hardware ONE component at a time. IF the problem comes back, you can track it down far more efficiently. Good luck.

Beat me to it! ha-haa!!

Oh.. wait...

New build PC that powers on but doesn't post?

1) Reseat the CPU

2) Assuming you got parts that are guaranteed compatible with each other, check the jumper settings on the mobo.

3) Strip the mainboard down to nothing but the essentials : Video, RAM, CPU.

4) Pull the mainboard out of the case and build it on the table or bench and retry.

In my experience building PC's (which is what I do all day every day where I work) , 9 out of 10 times you experience this, it's because you've mounted the CPU wrong or are grounding out the mainboard in the case.

Also, if this happens every time you build a new PC, maybe u should consider automotive work? ;)

Good luck!

Thanks you everyone for yur quick help. I will for sure try everything everyone has mention.

Well maybe I could give you the hardware I am trying to mount togheter.

I want to say that YEAH I am Arabic, BUT, it is ONLY my nationality. I'm not into any relegious "thing" either I am NOT in the favor of terrorist act!

Sorry for my bad enlish also.

chill man, no body said you were...

btw, you solverd that problem yet?

Well I am still at work right. I am currently gatering advice as much as possible before I go back home. 'cuz hey, I won't be able to use Internet at home until it's fixed! :(

Well but hey ho wait, I live like 5 minutes from where I work. Hehe yeah 5 minutes of walk! ;) I guess I could bring it here after work and try to fix it with some people online and the help I have gathered so far.

If anyone is willing to help me out "online", please feel free to add me to your msn contact list.

BTW, in my hardware description, I forgot to mention what's the CPU. It's a AMD Athon XP 3000+ Barton. Also it has Volcano 11+ to cool it. I didn't put the CPU Temp checker neither the Fan RPM Manager. Why? 'cuz it's AMD! You know, heat factor.

If its turning on, but not making it to bios post then it could be any number of things, but if you turn it on and the fans just turn a little then stop then something is grounding out, maybe loosen the screws holding down the motherboard (had that happen to me once)

Well, one thing down. Hte fan doesn't stop after a while. It's simply spinning mad fast and don't stop.

Btw, I come to check this very thread every 20 minutes or so! ;)

Hey Neowin Mods--looks like whatever language Squiggly has as his name says this in a topic subscription email:

ﭘﺂשׂﺑ has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed

EDIT: Which looks fine in Unicode, but in plain text it looks like this:

Crazy!

    • Because Chrome is doing it. And no one said anyone had to update immediately. That's silly. They could update every day for all I care as long as it's fast, and the next time the browser restarts, you're good. And the basic point is not to tee it up for bigger updates. As it is right now, all the windows I had open reopen anyway except inprivate.
    • Why? Does anybody actually want this? The constant need to close all browser sessions and wait for a new version to install, just so that there’s a integrated coupon manager feels like a waste of everyone’s time
    • I remember when Louis used to just do interesting Mac/iPhone repairs, now he's boring and just launches "crusades" every week
    • A shame it don't allow people to bypass the MS account, I will stick to using Rufus.
    • Microsoft about to radically change how often your Edge browser updates by Paul Hill Microsoft has just announced that starting with Edge 152, it will be moving to a two-week release cycle for faster, smaller updates. This faster release cadence will begin on August 27. This change comes just several months after Microsoft switched Visual Studio Code to weekly updates. The company said that the Extended Stable releases will remain on an eight-week cycle and that no admin changes are needed to experience the faster release cycle on the Stable channel. The new two-week release cycle will enable the faster delivery of security updates and platform improvements, all while reducing the size and complexity of individual updates. Microsoft claims that organizations will benefit from this change as it offers predictable validation cycles. For organizations that prefer a “more deliberate pace”, the Extended Stable channel remains an option. This change will affect Edge Stable releases on Windows, macOS, Linux, and mobile. The Extended Stable channel will continue to be updated every eight weeks, or every fourth Stable release, for example: versions 152, 156, 160, and 164. The Extended Stable could be a good option for organizations that don’t want the latest updates twice a month and don’t want as much hassle constantly updating browsers. In the case of Visual Studio Code, many of the updates being pushed by Microsoft are AI-related. As we all know, Microsoft Edge has a lot of AI features, so we could see Microsoft pushing more AI, thanks to the faster cycles. On the flip side, quicker releases could mean faster security updates, which is beneficial in a world where AI systems are hunting for software exploits. What do you think? Let us know in the comments. For more updates on Edge, be sure to follow Neowin's coverage. In May alone, we reported on Edge offering in-browser pop-ups to assist users with website compatibility issues, that Edge was losing Copilot Mode, and that Microsoft had fixed a plain-text password bug in Edge.
