More Compact Contacts Monitor

We have improved Contacts Monitor and you can now make your contact list more compact while using other applications. In addition, you can easily make calls or send SMS messages by using the contextual menu.

Improved Screen Sharing (Premium)

If you are a Skype Premium subscriber, your video call and screen sharing are shown simultaneously so that you can see the reaction of the person or people you're sharing with. Check out Group Screen Sharing.

OS X Mountain Lion Ready

Skype 5.8 for Mac is compatible with the upcoming release of OS X Mountain Lion.

Resizable Contact List Columns

Columns in your Contact List window can be resized to their minimum width so that users can make the best use of space on their desktop.

Improved SMS Usability

We have enabled the SMS button in the conversation input field to improve usability when a contact is offline.

Improved automatic reorientation of mobile video calls

We have improved the automatic reorientation of mobile video calls when switching between landscape and portrait mode and vice versa.

Keyboard shortcut for Volume Control

We have added a volume control keyboard shortcut (cmd+opt+up/down) so users can adjust the volume not only from preferences, but also from anywhere in the app.

What they need to do is add the volume control in the conversation window, and not leave it to keyboard shortcuts. Not everyone will remember those.

I'm running 5.3 on ML so I would guess 5.8 would work too ;)

Nope, I actually meant 2.8. I haven't upgraded simply due to the terrible UI that they decided to use in 5.0 and up.

Anyway to answer my own question, 2.8 works fine in ML.

Still sucks, Hate how the fullscreen window just looks stretched not to mention the stupid contact list inside the messages window... I miss the classic 2.8 interface.
