A brief review this time :)

I got this in to test if it would hold the S3 with a case attached and I got my answer.

YesNo.

Yes because it will hold the phone with the ROCK case and protect against slip from horizontal slip but go over a bump at speed and you will probably find the phone bouncing off somewhere!

The grip is rather epic when a case isn't used though, on anything that has a shiny surface it will grip like nobodies business.

My dash is matte and I found the pad to stick acceptably, not amazing as I can see it working loose over time and it can be peeled off quite easily. Non matte dashboards will see it sticking with brutal force though. Basically any shiny or smoother surface and it's a winner.

I would not use it regularly with a case like the ROCK attached to the phone because of the lack of adhesive grip on such cases, only use with shiny cases or caseless. It's perfect for holding pens/key fobs and whatnot though.

I then rinsed it under the water to remove some lint and placed it on the tabletop for a few seconds....went to pull it away and...

Looks like I've made myself a re-varnishing job for the weekend... :/

For ?8, it's pretty decent, you don't even need the whole pad to grip a phone, just half is enough so could cut it in 2 and use one half elsewhere around the car or home for non slip items.

wonder how it gets after a few months. I imagine dust and other stuff will set on it and it won't be as sticky anymore....

At which point you rinse it under the tap and shake the water off and it's just like brand new again ;)

Beware using these sticky pads on car dashboards!

I purchased the JML equivalent a few years back, worked a treat keeping my iPhone in place. However, when I came to sell the car I removed the pad and it took some of the dash plastic with it! Looks like the sun helps 'melt' the pad in after a few months of usage.

Yeah I've seen these years ago but I wouldn't leave it attached to the dash all the time of course. Remove, roll up and stash away until next needed :)

Right hand drive E46 BMW with the vent mixer valve set to warm only... This review is relevant to my interests!

Although I don't think I'd be game to put the phone on the passenger airbag cover...

Sometimes i have it set to warm, every other time it's on cold as the climate control is set to 21 degrees at all times with AC on so the contrast of warm and cool air is a nice feeling in the hot weather :)

The pas airbag shot was just to show the angles capable, on my car anyway!

    • Windows 95 offered the ability to add and edit the right click menus, on a per file type basis. This feature seems to be missing in the new file explorer. Are they bringing it back as a "new" feature?
    • It's nearly time to replace my aging Founders Edition 3080, it doesn't OC as nicely as it used to and it's running around 10c warmer than it did when I first bought it.  I don't have budget for much more than what I spent on the 3080 and locally, that means the best GPU I can manage is a 9070XT. On this basis I have a few questions: 1. At present I don't use ray tracing, if this was to change, would this GPU be an issue? 2. How does it compare on a performance basis? 3. Are the drivers worse or better than those for nVidia? 4. Linux support, is it there? 5. Anything else I should be aware of if I were to make this change? 6. Is it a good idea or shall I try and keep the 3080 a little longer.
    • What OS is that? It looks a bit like Mac OS but the command line suggests it isn't, either way I like it!
    • Outlook classic is inherently better than new outlook, for a number of reasons. That said, if the only reason people need office is to read email, they should just use thunderbird.
