Gmail Notifier Plus 3.5 has been released. Thanks to all who contributed localization files, tested and submitted bugs.

Info on Gmail Notifier Plus is here Gmail Notifier Plus Readme

The latest Installer and version/release can always be found here: http://shellscape.org/#gnp

Other Downloads can always be found here: https://github.com/shellscape/Gmail-Notifier-Plus/downloads

For my own sanity, I won't be replying to support requests or error reports on the forums here. But members should feel free to help out other members. Please report issues here: https://github.com/shellscape/Gmail-Notifier-Plus/issues

Changes in 3.5 include:

  • New MSI Installer (zip files are still available)
  • Automated update checking and upgrading.
  • Significant stability improvements.
  • All reported bugs fixed.
  • 30 new locales/languages added.

For a full list of specific changes, see https://github.com/shellscape/Gmail-Notifier-Plus/commits/master

If you chose to use the ZIP and not the MSI, I'm recommending that users unzip the program to C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Shellscape\Gmail Notifier Plus. It solves most permissions issues and I'm going to be installing to that directory when I get the installer wrapped up. That's also be the path the installer uses.

Congratulations for the release! I like to know whether it is same as you provided us during Pre testing or not. I have currently installed that you gave earlier and I am also gonna file some bugs in some days but first I let to know about this..

Once again Thanks a lot for such a nice piece of software..

shellscape.org is back up (for a few days now, forgot to update). Minor release is pending in a few days with a couple of bug fixes. Those of you with 3.5 should notice an update dialog in the app at some point.

Any more translation needed?

I don't use GMail personally, but kudos to you for the app and your work :)

EDIT::

While knowing that Rumshot is in beta, and probably intended to stick to a static size, it would be much better if you could resize the screenshot scope >.< It's awesome though :o

I have been using this program for a long time now and it has helped alert me to new important emails I've been waiting for.

Yesterday I installed windows 8 64-bit and today I thought I'd give this program a go to see if it ran.

Sadly it does not run in Windows 8. Here is the readout:

Hello all. I've been slowly poking at GNP and have a solid point release in the works. Some more fixed issues as reported and I've done a lot of work trying to reign in leaking resources/memory. I'm testing the build locally here, but should have something ready soon. Those of you running 3.5 will see an update window popup when it's released. Cheers

I got ambitious tonight and decided to add a tray menu for the tray icon users (non-superbar users, if there are any still). The tray menu now mirrors the jumplist that the superbar users see. I also removed the envelope backdrop in the tray icon. Saves on system resources, and it's just easier to see honestly.

    • Since they open sourced the calculator in Win 10/11 it is much better and can do a lot, I love it.
    • That's just silly imo. The lengths that man goes to just to avoid W11 is just nuts. Very, very few home users would do that. I will say this though, he is committed. Btw, I note on askwoody that Woody Leonhard passed away March, 2025 aged 73. His site was one of my favorites back in the day. Belated yes but RIP Woody.
    • Because of the EU (a good thing) newer android devices been getting 5 years worth of security patches. Except some Motorola which found the loop hole, and offer ZERO updates. In addition, Google for years have been making where it can patch some stuff by updating the core Google Play Store itself.  As echoed earlier,  you take the security risk in to your own hand beyond supported.
