They can't call it Infinity, then what happens next? "Infinity +1?" Like the stupid one-upping game you always played as a kid?

Besides... meh. My Xbox is metrofied enough as it is. I know they're going to do it anyway, but, damn. It was so sleek and nice-looking and then with the latest UI update it's all so flat and boring.

Which is why the whole "Xbox 8" name makes no sense. Now I agree that the 8 could be infinity which would make more sense because i'm sure MS is looking to make the next xbox be somehow upgradeable, be it though more software updates or maybe even a combination of future cloud gaming services. Xbox Live Gold starts to look better if you also get access to something like OnLive out of it.

If they're looking to make it upgradable, perhaps Xbox 8 will be the new name for the software, which could be upgradeable when Windows 9/Xbox 9 is released (if the Xbox isn't running a version of Windows by that time). If that is the case, they may call the hardware something else or even label it "the new Xbox" or "Xbox," similarly to what Apple are doing with the iPad.

Xbox infinity to me would be like vista when they were in their non numbered scheme.

I hope they go to xbox8 just so it matches up with windows/windowsphone. Or even just "Xbox" and update the core OS with versions so they would stay in sync with windows (and leverage the model that way).

Was that sarcasm? Or did you really not link the number 8 to Microsoft's other upcoming products? ;)

LOL I really hope you're joking... That's the first thing crossing my mind.

I didn't stop to think about it at all. I just saw what Microsoft had done, then read the thread. That's why :)

    • This is exactly why I keep saying we are not ready for human free self-driving. These little "bugs" are may seem like random one-offs. There was also the Waymo that drove between police with drawn guns and the suspect they were pointing them at. From a software perspective it is easy to understand how those extremely rare situations may not have been programed for, but that is the point. If AI needs to be told to watch out for every possible contingency, then it can never be successful. There will always be the possibility of a first encounter that the AI needs to understand to avoid.

    • Recycle Bin has been broken for literal YEARS now. The setting to delete files older than 30 days from the bin which is on by default doesn't even work. I have files older than 4 months in it and they are just there still...
