java Using Java as a web service

I was wondering if anyone could help me,

I want to use Java to program a web service, is this possible? and is there a simple way to go about this?

You mean like JSP? You need a webserver running Java and just package your application as a war and deploy.

JDeveloper can develop Java services, though I'm not too familiar with it.

Yea that could work, is their a way to run Java as a web service? or would I be able to do that with JSP?

I'm not sure what your trying to do, but Apache Tomcat will give you a webserver that supports JSP.

You can take a look at JavaEE technologies, like JSP, Servlet, JDO/ JPA, there are many ways you can use Java to help you implement web applications.

Have a look at JAX-RS (for RESTful web services) or JAX-WS (for other web services, e.g. SOAP).
